Expert Analysis
Jordan Reyes | Prep Redzone Scout
At 5’11”, 200 pounds, he’s a well-built running back with a strong frame who combines speed and power effectively. He runs with natural balance and pad level, fighting through contact while maintaining burst to reach the second level. Quick in his cuts and decisive with the football, he can turn small openings into big gains. He’s also a capable receiver out of the backfield, showing reliable hands and the ability to make plays in space. His combination of straight-line speed, physicality, and versatility makes him a threat both between the tackles and in the passing game, projecting as an all-around three down back at the D1 level. While splitting carries and having an explosive passing game in the Hamilton offense, he’s racked up 804 yards and 17 touchdowns on the season. Deserves to be more highly recruited and will be a steal for whoever lands him.

Jacob Brown Jacob Brown 5'11" | 210 lbs | RB Hamilton | 2026 State AZ is the kind of back that makes defenders second-guess whether they want to tackle him again. At 5’11” and 210 pounds, he’s built like a hammer but moves with more quickness than you’d expect from a guy his size. He’s not just a downhill runner — he’s a problem. He keeps his pads low, his feet moving, and when he lowers the shoulder, defenders don’t usually win that battle. What really stands out is how balanced he stays through contact. Even when someone gets a hand on him, he keeps churning. But Brown’s game isn’t just about carrying the ball. He’s one of the better pass-blocking backs in the class, using his strong base and natural leverage to keep rushers at bay. That ability to stay on the field all three downs — and thrive — is a big reason he’s one of the most valuable backs in the 2026 class. Brown doesn’t just get tough yards — he creates them.

Brown put together a really strong season last year with 980 yards and 8 touchdowns, but it’s hard not to feel like he’s just getting started. With how he looks this offseason — stronger, quicker, and more confident — you get the sense he’s gearing up for a huge senior year. And the big guys creating the running lanes seem to be on the same page too. At ASU 7s, even in a format that doesn’t always cater to running backs, he still managed to stand out. Physically, he looked like a tank out there. Built low and compact, but with the kind of strength that makes defenders think twice. What impressed me most, though, was how well he moved for his size. He had a smoothness to his cuts, good burst through space, and looked like someone who’s really sharpened the technical side of his game. There weren’t a ton of touches while I was watching, but even the small sample was enough to leave an impression. When the pads come on, I don’t know how an average-sized DB is supposed to bring him down one-on-one. He’s got that punishing running style, but now he’s pairing it with better vision and footwork. If that O-line opens up the lanes like they did last season, Brown has a real shot to blow past last year’s numbers and finish his high school career with a bang.

When you talk about Jacob Brown Jacob Brown 5'11" | 210 lbs | RB Hamilton | 2026 State AZ , you start with his size — 5-foot-11 and 210 pounds — and then you quickly realize he moves like someone much lighter. Sure, he has impressive speed for a bigger back, but it’s his power that makes him special. Brown doesn’t just run through defenders; he plows through them with an almost effortless force, keeping his feet under him and showing incredible balance in the process. It’s the kind of power that makes defenders hesitate, even when they’re in perfect position. Not only is Brown a threat as a runner, but he also shines as a blocker. With his strong base and knack for staying in front of defenders, Brown gives his quarterback that extra bit of time to make plays; a skill not every running back brings to the table. This season, he was a force for Hamilton, churning out big games and showing consistent improvement week after week. Whether he was grinding out tough yards or breaking loose for game-changing plays, he brought the same energy every time he stepped on the field. His breakout performances (like his 205-yard, 8.5 YPC effort in the playoffs) were the perfect culmination of a season where he just kept getting better.

Jacob Brown Jacob Brown 5'11" | 210 lbs | RB Hamilton | 2026 State AZ is a powerful back coming out of Saguaro. Listed at 5’11” and a stalky 190 lbs, he’s a handful to bring down, and often needs more than one defender to do so. With that kind of strength, he still manages to be an agile and shifty player. There’s a quick burst after cuts that end up leaving linebackers grasping the air. Always keeping his legs currning, when Brown does get wrapped up he can carry defenders with him for yards. His size and strength also allow him to be a very good blocker to help protect his quarterback when he’s asked to. Brown’s a good receiver coming out of the backfield as well. That quickness and burst shine as he cuts and he can easily create separation against linebackers. He doesn’t have the softest of hands, but he’s still a reliable target for his quarterback and a great check-down option because of his threat after the catch. Averaging 7.7 yards a carry with 7 touchdowns as a sophomore, the future is bright for Saguaro with Brown in the backfield.

Brown comes in as our top ranked 2026 RB in the state. At 5’11” 210 lbs. he’s a three down back with a well-rounded skillset as runner, receiver, and blocker in pass protection. Possesses a good combination of power and speed as a ball carrier. He gets downhill pressing the line quickly and exploding through the first level. He’s got good natural instincts and vision to read his blocks and see angles he can attack. Strong frame and good contact balance make him tough to bring down on first contact and in the secondary. Can make quick lateral cuts around defenders and has the long speed to break away in space. Flashes a great ability as a sophomore to see and pick up blitzes in pass protection. First offered by Arizona State in December but watch as his recruiting skyrockets as he’s able to showcase his skillset in one of the top programs in the state.

Brown is a bruiser in the backfield that is tough to bring down on first contact, and seemingly always falls forward to gain extra yards. He has a very strong lower body and is well built for his age while already making a big impact on Varsity for one of the top teams in the western region. He is a tough and bruising zone scheme runner that can read flow and cutback, while also able to follow pullers in gap schemes and stays patient behind them before hitting the hole and getting into the open. His physical and bruising running style make him tough to bring down in one on one situations, and a truework horse for Saguaro.
