Elijah Bonner | Prep Redzone Scout
With a towering 6’3, 215-pound frame, McPherson presents a physically imposing matchup for defensive backs. His 40 catches for 372 yards and two touchdowns underscore his reliability, particularly in contested catch situations. His size and strength make him an ideal possession receiver with red-zone upside, and his physicality sets him apart from others in this group.

McPherson is a physical backer that is great at getting off of blocks and punishing the ball carrier. He has the ability to drop back into coverage and show off his hands, picking off the ball and going the other way. He has good play recognition and is able to fly around like his hair is on fire. When he meets the ball carrier in the hole he is able to use his physicality to blow them up, never losing ground. He has good speed and looks like he is shot out of a cannon when he reacts to the play. He has some D1 offers and is a player that will make an immediate impact at the next level.

McPherson was a big reason why Regis was victorious over Eaglecrest. The 6’3 215-pound senior had 12 total tackles (9 solo, 3 assisted), 1 TFL, 0.5 sack, 1 FF. On offense, he had 3 receptions for 42 yards and 1 touchdown. McPherson has very good athletic ability due to very good acceleration, change of direction, good speed, and jumping. Very good lateral agility. He used his good mental processing to identify which hole the running back was running through. If the RB went to a different hole, McPherson used dynamic jump cuts to meet the RB. He would also watch the QB’s eyes leading him to the tackler. McPherson is a very good tackler. He’ll use his whole body or wrap and pull down. Very good strength. He picked up a running back and threw him on the ground. When Grayson is getting blocked, he’ll still tackle the RB. McPherson is a hard hitter. He lays the boom on the ball carrier, leading to a fumble. He has good ball skills as well. McPherson used his very good balance to stop stumbling, resulting in a touchdown. You can tell how passionate about the game, just by watching him play. I’m excited to see how this thumper of a linebacker does throughout the playoffs.

McPherson had a massive impact on defense, finishing with 9 solo tackles, 2 assisted tackles, and 3 sacks. McPherson was a constant force in the backfield, consistently applying pressure on the quarterback and throwing off the offensive rhythm. His ability to beat offensive linemen and get to the quarterback was a key factor in Regis Jesuit’s defensive dominance. McPherson’s play disrupted the timing of the passing game and forced hurried throws, proving his value as a top-tier pass rusher.
