Matvay can lineup anywhere either as a attached tight end or in the backfield and is a thumper that is strong and physical when blocking and shows he can run precise routes and has consistent hands downfield in traffic. He is a true H-back and will excel in the right system in college and has the length and frame to continue packing on weight through his college career. He shows he can get underneath defenders, finish with violent intentions and pull/kick out across the LOS with ease while showing a willingness to block at all times. He will be one of the best at the position across the Trinity league in 2026 and is a key name of note on the offensive side.

Matvay can play on either side of the ball in college but most of his damage as a Junior came from the tight end position lined up on the line or in the backfield. He is a devastating blocker that can kick out, finish downfield and gets underneath linebackers and edge defenders with finish abilities. He also shows strong hands, is not afraid to take a shot over the middle and can highpoint the ball and track from multiple angles. Due to his frame/size he should fit nicely on defense in college and plug right in as a second level guy and make a instant impact.

Matvay had five catches for 75 yards as a tight end last season for JSerra and had 10 tackles with two pass deflections on defense.

He only appeared in four games last season but showed promise as a pass rusher and tackler. Matvay closes to the ball quickly and reads his guards well int he run game. In pass coverage, he is solid in man coverage and has good instincts. He has the frame to add some more muscle this offseason and could be JSerra’s leading tackler if he stays healthy.
