Merrill is listed as an athlete her while playing the quarterback position and being one of the nations top Lacrosse recruits.

Merrill has a better arm than I gave him credit for in the past, I was impressed with his patience and poise in the pocket when I saw him play this year. Although he certainly has some of the most gaudy running stats he is not just a one-read and run type of quarterback.

Merrill really stands out athletically – not sure if he will also play football in college for UNC like his LI Counterpart Filardi will at Syracuse but I am very confident he is capable in doing so. Without Spring football involvement due to Lacrosse would be hard to see him playing the QB position but easily an athlete worthy of being on a FBS football team.

The quarterback position was a question headed into last season but Merrill stepped up and was dominant during his junior year. He was one of the top dual threat quarterbacks in the state. He eclipsed over 1,000 yards on the ground, as his breakaway speed gave defenses a ton of trouble. He also threw for over 1,400 yards and 13 scores through the air. With a full season under his belt, Merrill looks to take the next step as one of the top QBs in the tri-state area.

A truly incredible junior campaign for Gary Merrill Gary Merrill 6'1" | 180 lbs | ATH St. Anthony's | 2025 State NY . The UNC lacrosse commit burst out onto the football scene last fall. He threw for over 2,000 yards and ran for over 1,000 yards in the AAA division with St Anthony’s. He’s one of the best pure athletes in the state and he made so many entertaining plays during his first varsity season. He can play division one football, look out for him to be one of the top playmakers in the state this year for a great St Anthony’s program.
