will be going into his third season as a starter for the Piedmont secondary. Shelton first got on our radar during the offseason last year. He dominated at one of our camps and immediately became a cornerback that we wanted to see more of. Piedmont’s coaches know what they have when it comes to the senior. He’s a guy that has blazing fast speed and technique that will make him one of the best cover corners in 6A-2 football this season. Shelton is not going to shy away from the challenge of a new class. And 6A-2 has some terrific quarterbacks and wide receivers. Shelton will be ready week in and week out.

While Piedmont’s strength this season is going to be with their linebackers and option rushing attack, they also have some speed and skill players on the outside. One of the 2025 defensive backs that we’re keeping eyes on this season is

after he was one of the top performers at our camp back in the spring. Shelton ran one of the fastest times of any camper this offseason when he was clocked at a 4.41 40-yard dash. Shelton tested incredibly well and then he was one of the top defensive backs we watched this offseason. Shelton is also listed as a running back and we’re intrigued to see how much the Wildcats are able to use that speed on the offensive side of the ball. We’re looking forward to seeing Shelton’s growth this season as Piedmont looks to improve on the defensive side of the ball.

immediately turned heads on Sunday during the combine testing portion. He ran the fastest 40-yard dash time of the camp with a blistering 4.41 time. Then Shelton continued to impress throughout the rest of the camp as players transitioned into individual drills and 1 on 1 competition. Any time we do these showcase camps, the numbers are always tilted towards the offensive side of the ball with wide receivers outnumbering defensive backs by an absurd amount. And that always means that the defensive backs are thrown into the fire during the 1 on 1 portion where they end up having rep after rep against the wide receivers. Out of all the MVP selections from this camp, Shelton was the name that we didn’t know much about heading into the camp. And that’s one of the things we like the most about our showcase events. Not only do we see some of the best prospects in Oklahoma, but we see new names that not only get on our radar but open plenty of other eyes.
