Johnson caught my eye last year by attending one of our Prep Redzone showcases. This kid can play. Measuring in at 6’5 310-pounds, Johnson is a mauler. He has elite strength to lock up the defensive line or edge rusher. He is consistently neutralizing that threat. Johnson starts with a low pad level, out maneuvering the defensive lineman. He has very good initial quickness out of his stance, initiating contact first. Johnson locks out the defender with his elite hand strength and very good hand placement. Allows him to control and steer the DL with ease. He excels in pass protection. He has a very good anchor, sticking his feet in the ground making himself immovable. Johnson also has good athletic ability and it shows on pull blocks. He has a very good competitive toughness and plays with a high tenacity to him. Johnson plays after the whistle as well. Any college looking to solidify their offensive line NEEDS to look his way.
