Jackson Minton – A Top 15 offensive lineman in Colorado and a Top 100 senior overall. That is a huge compliment from our Colorado staff. I had to do some digging after camp to figure out who the big man was because he looked too good in person not to already be on my radar. It made sense when I realized he was from Colorado. He projects inside at guard or center but still managed to win several reps while lined up outside against speed. Had Minton shown a quicker first step out of his stance, I think he could have been even more successful during 1v1s. Regardless, he passed the eye test and still won plenty of reps. He appears to be a legitimate Princeton target, especially after this performance. Here’s hoping that relationship continues to grow. I wouldn’t pound the table for him to move up the Colorado rankings because he is already ranked very well.
Minton is a powerful center for Pine Creek. He measures in at 6’2 265-pounds. Minton has very good initial quickness out his stance with his hand speed. He maintains a low pad level due to his good knee bend, very good flexibility and balance. Very good strength. Very good hand placement and hand strength to control and steer his opponent at will. Very powerful grip. Minton has good foot quickness as well. Good speed from 1st to 2nd level blocks and creates blocks on the perimeter for the screen game. Good anchor and very good pull blocking. I’m excited to see how Minton does this upcoming season !
Minton had a good day at the showcase. He has very good balance, flexibility, good knee bend.. Very good initial quickness out of his stance, maintaining a low pad level throughout the rep. Good hand placement with very good strength and hand strength. He’d use his powerful grip and not let the defensive lineman break free from his grasp. He has very good competitive toughness, and if he got beat, he’d come back and succeed the next play with some extra fire. Good performance by the junior.
Minton delivered a smooth performance from testing through drill work. At his size, he plays with noticeable power, using a strong punch to slow and control defenders. His quick feet allow him to stay in front of opponents, while his strength helps knock them off balance. Minton is a prospect who should continue to gain attention as he hits the camp circuit this offseason.
Minton has quietly had one of the most solid offseason amongst O-lineman in his class. His performance during the camp circuit turned heads, thanks to his balanced footwork, strong hands, and ability to control defenders at the point of attack. In pass protection, Minton anchors well and absorbs pressure, making him a tough matchup for any rusher. In the run game, he shows good pad level and drive, clearing running lanes for backs with consistency. Minton’s technical footwork and physical upside give him the tools to be a dominant presence up front. As he earns more reps this fall, expect his stock to rise rapidly.
