About Deshawn
Expert Analysis
Hunter Tierney | Prep Redzone Scout
Krein showed off blazing closing speed on quick outs, jumping routes and forcing receivers to rethink the timing of their cuts. He’s got that twitchy recovery gear that lets him make up ground in a hurry, and it kept Basha’s wideouts from finding too many clean windows. What really impressed was his technique — good footwork, balanced hips, and a willingness to battle through every rep. Like much of Brophy’s secondary, he was left on an island too often after the offense sputtered, but he kept competing, staying physical in coverage and making receivers earn every catch. His ability to combine speed with disciplined mechanics makes him a piece this defense can lean on all season.

might not be the biggest DB out there, but he doesn’t let that affect him one bit. What really jumps out is his footwork — it’s clean, crisp, and keeps him glued to receivers no matter where they try to go. He’s one of those guys who always seems to be in the right spot, whether it’s sticking with someone through a double move or timing his jump to break up a pass at the perfect moment. He’s got the quick twitch and natural instincts that make up for any size concerns, and you can tell he’s been well-coached — his technique is already super refined. Montana State isn’t exactly known for landing top Arizona DBs, but they got a steal here. Coaches are going to love having someone this polished from day one.

Krien lands inside the top 50 overall and is ranked top 10 at his position. 6’1” 190 lbs. he’s a gifted corner that can attach and maintain coverage to all areas of the field. Runs well, 10.9 100 meter, but its his technique and instincts that allow him to shut down bigger or faster receivers. Very calculated with his feet and hands to gain positional leverage and then be physical throughout the play. Uses his length and reach to his advantage when playing the ball at the catch point. Fluid movement skills, he’s quick to transition and smoothly changes direction to mirror the route. Great ability to play press coverage, he’s aggressive and physical giving him the ability to move receivers off their line and disrupt timing. Recruitment has continued to rise now holding 4 D1 offers with his first FBS offers coming from New Mexico and New Mexico State this month.

I’ve been high on Krein since I saw him in spring ball. At 6’0” 190 lbs. he’s a strong cover corner that can run, ran a 10.9 100 meter. He’s highly instinctual with his movement while also showing great technique and footwork to stay in phase to all areas of the field. Flashes great initial burst and short area acceleration to recover and close separation rapidly. He’s smooth in his transition with fluid hip movement and plus change of direction. Really like his ability to operate on an island and play press coverage. He’s active with his hands and uses them well to jam receivers at the line and disrupt their route. Picked up his initial college offer from Sacramento State last week and quickly followed that up with an offer from South Dakota State. Expect FBS programs to take notice going forward.
