About Derek

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

Calm under pressure pro-style quarterback always with a good command of the offense. Coachable and great ability to make the play work that the coach calls.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I am steady in nature; I don’t get too high or too low and I make it a point to project this on my team and in the huddle.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

Not at this time but I do plan to get involved with more volunteer work over the summer.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Being a quarterback has given me confidence to lead and to also do what I can to be a great teammate. Eventually, I plan to use these skills to be an entrepreneur.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I broke a bone my 7th grade season and needed to have surgery followed by hardware removal 9 months after. It was a painful and slow rehab and I had to learn that you have to earn your recovery through hard work.

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m just a freshman in high school so I’m not really sure what I want right now, but would love to go to a great football program because I love the game so much. I am interested in starting my own business so a business school would be important.
