About Dean

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

Play Fast, nose for the ball, high football IQ.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

On the field I have an aggressive mentality, but I know to keep it in check to avoid getting too high or too low, or costing this team with dumb penalties. Football is the ultimate team first game.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am involved in Young Life, which is a Christian youth organization that brings young adults together to with faith based meetings and camps. I also traveled to Costa Rica for a trip to help underprivileged people by by improving their community buildings etc.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I try to lead both on and off the field through example. In school my teachers have always praised and appreciated my leadership abilities and helping to get the class focused on the task at hand when they get a little out of control.

What type of college are you looking for?

I would love to play for a power 4 college, but that all depends on my growth both physically and mentally. Most importantly I would like to play at a school that is very competitive at whatever level or league they are in. And I would like to find that school that has great football facilities and has a strong focus on nutrition and has a great culture.

One of several athletes hailing from Connecticut that had a nice day at camp, Gaughran was one of the top three Linebackers we saw at camp. Physically he passed the test right away. Impressive build with more than adequate muscle mass for the position. Really impressed by his agile feet and ability to change direction without taking a false step. On every drill or rep, he was on the balls of feet. Didn’t lunge to make contact and played under control. On top of the on-field ability, in spending some time speaking with him, he’s clearly a very intelligent young man too. Next year he’ll be taking the train every day to New York, to play at Archbishop Stepniac.
