About Deacon

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I’m a smart, athletic quarterback who reads defenses well, makes good decisions with the football, and gets the ball out on time. I’m comfortable in the pocket but can use my athleticism to extend plays and create when needed, all while playing efficient, disciplined football and leading by example.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I play with a calm, confident mindset, take preparation seriously, and stay composed under pressure. I lead by example through my work ethic, communication, and consistency, and I’m always focused on improving as a player and teammate.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I’m involved in a club volleyball team, which has helped me develop teamwork, competitiveness, and leadership outside of football. I’m also involved with Fellowship of Christian Athletes, where I’ve grown in character, service, and leadership. Additionally, I’m an Edwards-Flannagan Scholarship recipient, which reflects my commitment to academics, leadership, and community involvement.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Through football and community service, I’ve developed strong leadership and teamwork skills. As a quarterback, I focus on communication, accountability, and leading by example, which has helped me grow as a leader, teammate, and person.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Losing the state championship taught me resilience, accountability, and how to handle adversity, while balancing football with honors classes strengthened my time management, discipline, and mental toughness. Together, those experiences helped me grow as a leader and perform under pressure

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m looking for a college where I can contribute as a quarterback, continue to develop at a high level, and help the team succeed, while also being challenged academically through a strong engineering program that supports student-athletes.

I’m a bottom-line type of person. In this case, the bottom line is that Skogen has helped Trinity get to 8-1. He’s completed 64 of 105 passes for 1,193 yards, 13 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. The touchdown-to-interception rate could be better, but there’s only one loss on the resume for this season. Deacon does put zip on the football and can make throws all across the field. He’s mobile and throws solid passes on the move as well.
