will be a thrilling watch for his junior year campaign. After sitting out a few games due to his transfer last season, he started the last 3 games of his sophomore season and gave us a sneak peek of what we could be in store for in 2025. Allen’s game can be best described as smooth. He is a modern-day gunslinger who has plenty of arm talent to get the ball downfield. He operates with this surgical coolness under center, never panicking in the pocket and showcasing creativity to throw the ball from multiple different angles. He moves well off the platform and can still place the ball excellently on the run. With a full season in front of him, Allen should be one of the biggest quarterbacks in the state to keep an eye on.
Chaparral ‘27 QB and 2023 BJ Media Freshman of the Year Cam Allen threw 3 TD passes in his first full game with the Firebirds on Friday against Saguaro.
Allen comes in as the top ranked QB in the state in the initial 2027 PRZ rankings after a big freshman season at Central throwing for 2,100 yards and 28 touchdowns. At 5’11” 170 lbs. he’s a natural passer with a smooth over the top delivery. His release is quick and compact allowing him to get the ball out quickly while hitting receivers in stride. Shows he can be accurate and hit his spots to all three levels of the field and flashes the arm strength to throw off platform without sacrificing velocity. Like his ability to layer the ball over second level defenders with touch and trajectory. Plus footwork and mobility in the pocket, he’s never rushed and shows he can escape pressure and extend the play while keeping his eyes downfield for an open target. Good ability to go through his progression without forcing the ball into coverage, only threw 3 interceptions on 178 attempts in 2023. Transferred to Chaparral for his sophomore season and has good upside/potential as he continues to develop.

‘s tape it’s easy to see why he was named BJ Media’s Freshman of the Year. He has really nice pure arm strength that allows him to just flick his wrist while fading back and still be able to get the ball to his receiver on the sideline. Allen throws the ball with impressive anticipation, espescially for a freshman. He doesn’t need to see the receiver open by multiple steps before delivering the ball. In fact, he has no problem throwing his receivers open. Leading them into open space and away from where defenders can make a play on the ball. Although he didn’t light up the rushing leaderboard, he shows an incredible ability to use his legs to improvise and make something happen for his team. Allen does have a tendency to let his front shoulder fly open slightly early at times, but he has no problem adjusting and still delivering a very cathcable ball. Perhaps his best trait is his ability to keep the ball out of harm’s way. Someone finishing their first high school season with 28 touchdowns to just three interceptions at the varsity level isn’t something you see every year; but Allen did just that. He’s plays the quarterback position like a seasoned veteran, yet he’s only a freshman. As he continues to gain experience, Allen is a player who will quickly be climbing up the rankings.
rnAllen is off to a hot start to his prep career, and has been putting up big numbers for his first season at the high school level. On Friday night he threw for over 350 yards and another 6 touchdowns against Fairfax and should be one of the better pocket passers across Arizona for the next few years. He has solid mechanics for someone his age, shows a quick release and precision ball placement in tight windows, while able to air it out and allow his receivers to run underneath while throwing them open and seems to be on time more often then not with outbreaking and in-breaking routes. He is a kid that should turn some heads this off-season as a rising Sophomore and a name to keep a close eye on.
