Expert Analysis

I first scouted Doss in person during the 2024 state semifinals at the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls. The Lewis Central running back was competing well on the big stage as a freshman. He’s been on my radar ever since then, and I appreciated the opportunity to watch him compete again at the Back 2 Balling High 7v7 tournament during the middle of April back at The Dome. Doss was finding success with shiftiness and speed as a ninth-grader. He’s since filled out his frame to the point where he already looks like a college back from the physical standpoint. In the 7v7 game, Doss does take handoffs here and there, but it highlights his ability as a receiver. With power to go with his natural instincts and burst at the position, Doss is a guy that’s being under-recruited relative to potential. He’s made a ton of progress already through two years of prep football and plenty of room to go before reaching his ceiling. Doss rumbled for 1,518 yards (8.8 YPC) and 18 touchdowns last season.

With elite foot speed, vision, balance and agility to make plays between the tackles and in space, Doss is an every down back that is capable of making a game-breaking play every time he touches the rock.
Taking 172 carries for 1,518 yards and 18 scores, and returning 15 kicks for 489 yards and three touchdowns, Doss is playmaking personified for one of the most successful programs in the state in recent memory, Lewis Central.

. Now the RB1 for the Titans, Braydan, showed out with 172 carries for 1,518 rushing yards and 18 touchdowns. Braydan is a tough runner who can slowly chip away at defenses between the tackles with a strong 5’10”, 195-pound frame that he uses like a battering ram. Doss makes sure to go down fighting, as he dishes out stiff arms and high knees that make him very hard to take down on initial contact. He also runs with great vision and patience, allowing for his blocks to set up in front of him before finding an open crease and exploding through it. He can make sharp, subtle cuts to hit cutback lanes or shake defenders in the open field.

Doss turned heads throughout his freshman campaign, finishing up with a strong performance in the state semifinals. There, he showed off the kind of versatility and athleticism that keeps open multiple position options open for the next level as he matriculates through high school. He rushed for 480 yards and two touchdowns, adding 10 receptions for 192 yards. Doss also flashed ability as a defensive back with the potential for a future back there. He averaged 27.6 yards on 19 kick returns, housing one from 69 yards out. Already a three-phase contributor as a nine-grader, Doss gives scouts plenty to consider as they keep tabs on his development the next three years.
