It has certainly helped Barger that he’s gotten bigger and stronger every season, without losing and speed or quickness. He has a natural feel for the linebacker position and reads offenses well, allowing him to quickly diagnose plays and break on the ball. The ability, athleticism, and production are all there for one of the best linebackers in the Charlotte area.

It’s exciting to see Barger recognized with a Shrine Bowl appointment, because on a defense full of future Power Four superstars, he’s the engine that makes it all go. Even when he was much smaller several years ago, his instincts were too goo to keep him off the field. He’s the Swiss Army Knife that Weddington defense always seems to have and that’s helped him become an excellent Division 1 prospect in his own right.
