is a tight end out of Oxford that has a ton of potential for their offense in the future. As a rising freshman, Mims already has a physical advantage over defenses with his size. Mims stands at 6’3 175 and uses that size to dominate defensive backs- Mims frequently breaks through tackles and utilizes his catch radius to highpoint the ball and haul in tough passes. In addition to his physicality, Mims has some impressive speed and acceleration- he consistently gets open at every level of the field and can take catches for some massive gains/scores. Mims already has a bunch of really good tape as he heads into his first year, keep an eye on him and this Oxford offense- he has some real potential to be an early impact player.

As far as 2028 prospects are concerned, they aren’t really picking up offers right now unless they’re bonafide studs. So while Mims may be a bit far from picking up offer number 1, he is absolutely someone I have on offer watch during his first year. He comes in around 6’3 170 and is obviously not anywhere close to his peak physically. Even with a thinner frame, his mismatch potential is off the charts. He tracks the ball well in the air and has the length to reach out of a crowd to bring in the football. He also looks natural when he opens up his stride, quickly eating grass and lifting away from defenders. I love the upside here and believe he will be one of the more highly recruited 2028 TEs in Alabama.

It’s been over a year since I wrote something about Beau Mims–and that’s my fault. The Mims last name has become synonymous with football talent in Oxford, Alabama and Beau is on the next wave. Up nearly 25 pounds and an inch and a half since our PRZ Next Camp in Atlanta last year, all signs point to him becoming a recruitable football player early in his high school career. Right now, is easily one of the more well-balanced 2028 tight ends in the country.

I think most middle school coaches in the country would be happy with a 6-foot-1 Tight End/Outside Linebacker with the ability of a kid like Mims. Hailing from Oxford Middle School in Alabama, the 2028 prospect is already starting to make the rounds on the recruiting and camp trail. Mims was one of eight athletes from the Oxford football program to take in the scenes of the Jacksonville State Spring Game back in April. This past summer he also camped at Alabama and took part in one of the Nick Saban Football Camps. On film, his height is the first thing that sticks out to me, as he is typically one of the tallest kids on the field. Also like his quick-twitch muscle reaction and soft hands. There’s a lot to be excited about here, in terms of potential.
