McNeil took over the game and made numerous impact plays, including 2 interceptions and a PBU on defense. However, it was his offensive production that especially stood out. He took the top off the defense with his speed and caught two touchdowns on deep shots, including an impressive two-foot toe tap in the back of the endzone on a 40 yd bomb. Not only is he a downfield threat, but he is slippery with the ball in his hands, gaining a multitude of yards after the catch.

McNeil has been a well-covered prospect here at PRZ this offseason, and it is all due to his performances upon in-person exposure. Here is a snippet of a write-up from this offseason:
“McNeil is a really hard guard, both before and after the catch. He is light on his feet and extremely shifty. It’s hard to create your own yards in a touch-to-down setting, but McNeil is twitchy and smooth enough to do so, which has been the most impressive part of watching him, in my opinion.”

is a talented ATH/DB from Oxford who’s had back-to-back impressive seasons for his team’s defense.
“McNeil is a ball hawk who can fly in and disrupt every single pass thrown his way. He’s quick on his feet and is terrific at reading and reacting to opposing WRs, using his timing and hands to break up and pick off passes all over the field.
On top of that, McNeil is a physical and willing run defender who has no problem making his way downfield to dish out huge hits to the ballcarrier. He’s so quick to react and is a talented tackler who does a great job wrapping up and not allowing for additional yardage after making contact. I don’t know how I’ve missed out on McNeil, he’s a seriously talented player with a bright future ahead.”

Similar to Collins, McNeil has been a consistent top performer and MVP for us at our 7v7 events. He is continuing to grow into himself and add mass, but he has taken strides forward physically between my in-person exposures to him. McNeil is a really hard guard, both before and after the catch. He is light on his feet and extremely shifty. It’s hard to create your own yards in a touch-to-down setting, but McNeil is twitchy and smooth enough to do so, which has been the most impressive part of watching him, in my opinion.

I also highlighted McNeil earlier this week, who was one of the smoothest, most efficient playmakers at the tournament. Not many players in a 7v7 setting are capable of making defenders miss in space, at least enough to actually generate YAC opportunities. McNeil did that, and his ability to create also translated as a route runner when he needed to separate. He flipped around and played outstanding on defense as well. He could match, mirror, and run routes for the receivers, putting him in a consistent position to make a play on the ball. Just a solid player on both sides of the ball with time and space to get bigger and better.

McNeil is a familiar name to me from the 7v7 scene. This time around, he has taken massive strides forward physically, now up to around 6’1 160. He was one of the shiftiest players at this event. Both afternoons, he proved capable of creating his own yards in space, which is difficult in a touch to down setting. This kid is fluid, active, and has continued to improve. I am looking forward to seeing how he caps off his HS career this fall.

Here is my evaluation from earlier this week on Christian McNeal, who exited as a top performer from the GCA Tropical squad.
“McNeil is a scrappy two-way player who caught my eye early on and consistently played good all weekend. McNeil made some clutch plays on the ball as a defender when he was backed up against the goal line. For a smaller guy, he does an excellent job giving himself to make a play on the ball and working up through the hands at the point of attack. As a receiver, he was reliable and had enough wiggle to separate at the top of his routes. McNeil has a lot of room to grow and could be a breakout candidate this fall once he adds to his frame.”
