Newton brings a reliable skill set to the linebacker position, showing the ability to read plays quickly and put himself in position to make plays. He does a good job flowing to the football, closing gaps, and staying disciplined within the defense. His ability to recognize what is happening in front of him and react quickly allows him to make an impact in the middle of the field. Anthony picked up an offer from Arkansas State.

displayed a wide range of explosiveness, quickness, and speed throughout the combine portion of testing, all of which translated directly to his linebacker play on the field. Newton’s impressive 4.25 shuttle, 4.7 40-yard dash, 6.75 L-drill, and 9’9” broad jump showcased his athleticism, change of direction, and lower-body explosion. His ability to move efficiently in space, react quickly, and play downhill with speed makes him a versatile defender capable of excelling as both an inside and outside linebacker. Along with his precise instincts, pursuit to the football, physicality, and ability to play sideline-to-sideline, Newton demonstrated the complete characteristics of a modern-day linebacker.
Anthony had a solid and well-rounded showing at camp, bringing physicality and steady effort to the linebacker position. He moved well throughout drills and showed good ability to stay controlled while working downhill, reacting quickly when reading his keys.
One of the more noticeable parts of his day was how well he ran — he showed good straight-line speed for the position and was able to cover ground efficiently when pursuing the ball. That mobility translated into his ability to stay involved in plays from sideline to sideline, especially during competitive periods.
Anthony is a true force on the field, combining size, speed, and instincts to impact every play. On film, he consistently diagnoses plays quickly, closes downhill with precision, and makes tackles in traffic with authority. He shows the ability to shed blockers, navigate through congestion, and disrupt plays behind the line of scrimmage. Anthony’s awareness allows him to excel in coverage as well, matching up with tight ends or running backs and reading routes effectively.
