On film, he doesn’t look like a player who’s just “in coverage” — he’s actively working through every phase of the route. From the snap, his feet are quick and controlled, allowing him to stay balanced in his backpedal without getting too upright or panicked when receivers release vertically or break underneath.
Where he starts to separate himself is in his trigger. When AJ reads the quarterback or recognizes route intent, he shows a quick, decisive click-and-close ability. He doesn’t waste steps once he commits, he accelerates downhill and attacks the catch window rather than drifting into it. That’s where his pass breakup production and disruption potential show up on film.
