to their squad. A nose tackle by trade, he does an excellent job of maintaining a good base and attacking half-a-man. His good get off allows Smith to jolt defenders backwards or, at his best, get into the backfield causing massive disruptions for offensive backs. I also noticed him hit a forklift move when he is engaged with defenders. A good move, yes, but getting to it a bit earlier would be to his benefit. As a two-way lineman, I, personally, prefer Smith’s defensive game a bit more.

My third time seeing Smith play live since December and his performance this weekend finally pushed me over the edge to add him to the 2027 PRZ Next National Watchlist. At 5-foot-10 and 308-solid-pounds, his strength is incredible for being just in the eighth grade. At the New Jersey State Powerlifting Championship, the Offensive Line MVP notched a 286.6-pound bench press, 496-pound dead lift and a 502.6-pound squat. He’ll be at Donovan Catholic next year.

was amongst a couple really solid OL and he just stood out with his power and ability to anchor and re-anchor against bull rushes. There was a lot of DL talent to go against and Smith was winning a lot of reps and very competitive in others. Good footwork and a good base allowed Smith to utilize some serious strength against quicker pass rushers who had some size and strong bull rushes.
