As is the case with several athletes in this initial launch, a reclass year has allowed McBride mature physically and take his game to the next level. His ball skills and ability as a Cornerback were never in question, but now his size checks the box too (as of August 2024). While McBride Island looks to be the future, he’s also a playmaker as a WR too.

was piece of the puzzle on the 12U All-Star team that won the AYF National All-Star Tournament a year ago and from what I saw at the tryout, he’ll be back at it again this year with the 14U squad. At this stage of football I’d be willing to be that 9-out-of-10 kids asked, would say they rather be a wide receiver than a defensive back–but not McBride. While, yes, he can play on the offensive side of the ball (like in the feature image above), he’s truly a corner back through and through.
