Cooper is a fluid and fast athlete who can play multiple positions in college. I can see him playing either wide receiver or defensive back at the next level. We will see which position he ends up in, but no matter what he is a fluid athlete that can do a lot of different things on the football field at either side of the ball. Cooper is a legit College Football prospect, so just a matter of time before he commits to play College Football.

Often at the HS level, the safety position can be dished off to an athlete as their secondary position. This isn’t the case with Cooper. He’s a special DB with special R&R skills who can easily provide team-leading wideout reps. The young man’s trait pool and utilization remind me a ton of Shawn Battle’s back at Neumann-Goretti. Quality reps at WR/RB/DB can serve as a returner as well. Ranked as a top-five athlete in his overtly talented class.

After his February de-commitment from Syracuse University, Conwell-Egan’s Samuel Cooper has been a hot commodity among FCS and even Power Five’s alike. Pitt pounced on the early opportunity back in March, visiting soon after, and now scheduling his official visit on June 22nd. I hear it’s likely the fantastic PCL ATH will commit to Pitt, a huge addition it would be to the PA Pitt class. Howard, Richmond, Towson, Akron, New Hampshire, James Madison, and UConn are also in on the top 25 prospect. He’s being courted heavily, just like he deserves to be.

A Syracuse commit this far down the rankings. I should have trusted my gut with a prospect that operates right under my nose. I remember not being able to find substantial tape out of the kid before he attended Conwell-Egan. His efforts this past Fall impressed me, yet I wasn’t sure if he had done enough to garner Power Five interest after just his junior campaign. I was wrong. Cooper also wasn’t very active before November of last Fall, so I was under the impression he was falling under the radar. Thus my 195 ranking. A wide range of levels offered Cooper, he committed to Syracuse, but has since decomitted, stating he wants to explore more options.
