A deployable weapon at pretty much any wideout alignment. A two-way dominant prospect, All-Catholic DB honors. Sam Cooper Sam Cooper 5’11” | 185 lbs | ATH Conwell-Egan | 2024 State PA is a legitimate safety prospect with the skill set to play the position at the next level. Often at the HS level, the safety position can be dished off to an athlete as their secondary position. This isn’t the case with Cooper. He’s a special DB with special R&R skills who can easily provide team-leading wideout reps. The young man’s trait pool and utilization remind me a ton of Shawn Battle’s back at Neumann-Goretti. Quality reps at WR/RB/DB can serve as a returner as well. Ranked as a top-five athlete in his overtly talented class.
6’5, 290, 34″ arms, fantastic 4.23 GPA. 79′ wingspan.
Currently holds one offer from Stony Brook
Some of the best year-on-end growth from any lineman on our 2024 lists. The climb in ranking is indicative of that. Might be playing on a bit leaner build this coming Fall. Can serve as a massive wall at left tackle, impressive down-blocking capabilities outside working in. Nearing 300 pounds but can be relied on to get out of his stance and get wide to zone block outside the hash marks. Can emergency at guard if need be. Does a good job taking advantage of kids who either give up their chest or get too far upfield, he’s a good steerer once he gets the grip on someone. Some pass-pro sets on tape, looks comfortable for the most part. Looks more comfortable here than run-blocking at times, a testament to his lower body strength. Will likely see heavy D2/FCS attention so long as he puts forth good tape.
5’11, 3.5 GPA
Took a little tumble down the rankings solely because of recruiting heat other DBs are seeing. 11 PBUs recorded on the junior season, 20 tackles to his name. An OTN corner you can trust to play press/man. A lot of early reps on tape have Tim Gipli Tim Gipli 5’11” | DB Conwell-Egan | 2024 State PA jabbing and running with wideouts at the LOS. Pesky, annoying with his hands, all good traits to have. Stays on the hip when covering crossing routes, plays through the front-side hip. Joins Sam Cooper Sam Cooper 5’11” | 185 lbs | ATH Conwell-Egan | 2024 State PA in the secondary, which makes two top 300 2024 seniors in the backend of the defense. Excited to see a more confident and experienced Gipli along the sideline.
5’11, 205, 4.35 GPA, 1st-Team All-Catholic OLB honors, led the program in total tackles.
One of my favorite linebackers in the state, one that any team in the state could win with or because of. Well-coached, a linebacker who actually translates his technique onto the field, Gavin Pond Gavin Pond 5’11” | 200 lbs | LB Conwell Egan Catholic | 2024 State PA is back to live in opposing backfields. That’s not hyperbole, a ridiculous number of TFLs are recorded on tape. Pond will likely be back at his OLB / Thief role where he can optimally serve as a slot-defending DB, or blitz and create havoc in the trenches. The Egan defense now has three top 300 prospects stationed, two in the secondary and a senior Pond who is ready to cash in on a career filled with hard work. Timely blitzer, can ward off low-effort blocks from WRs/TEs/RBs, he’s even a nuisance on special teams. Pond’s an overall tough defender to game plan for considering the various skills he brings to the table. Multiple sacks to his name, multiple picks. Here’s to another productive senior campaign for the young man.

6’2, 195, 4.6 GPA, fourth on the team in tackles.
Interested in the role that will be presented to Hunter Ginsberg Hunter Ginsberg 6’2″ | 195 lbs | LB Conwell Egan | 2024 State PA with Luke Trunell out of the building. CEC liked Fairey and Pond working outside, with Luke Trunell, now at West Chester, clogging up lanes in the middle. Hunter Ginsberg Hunter Ginsberg 6’2″ | 195 lbs | LB Conwell Egan | 2024 State PA worked inside with Luke a ton, either cleaning up or making plays in the backfield himself. Tough to stand out when that trio of LBs are stationed next to you. Ginsberg should see an uptick in production, he might have to fill in the Trunell role. He’s got the size, the aggressive nature to make it happen. He’s a little quicker on his feet than Luke was, so having the ability to cover seams and outs to the flat should work in his favor. This is my pick to fly up our ranks in the post-season.

To my knowledge, Stephen Tryon Stephen Tryon 6’1″ | 195 lbs | QB Conwell-Egan | 2024 State PA will be back under center for the Conwell-Egan Eagles. I imagine he’s going to be a tick bigger and stronger. What’s more important is that the passer comes in more comfortable and confident than what we’ve seen in the past. This team’s got weapons, some names along the offensive line. It’s only a matter of things slowing down for Tryon, which an off-season working the system knowing he’s the man behind center should help. I’ve seen the kid live, I’ve seen him in camps, I’ve witnessed Tryon flash that potential on tape. It’s a matter of making those flashes come less far in-between throws. Other programs might take this kid lightly but I wouldn’t. Don’t be surprised to see an updated and improved version of Tryon on the field this coming Fall.
Highlights
5’10, 175 pounds, 4.5 GPA. Six scores to his name, 30 tackles at DB.
Tayshaun Thenor could see a boosted role in the run game with Colin Majors out of the picture. He’s a change of pace to Sincer Fairey Sincer Fairey 6’1″ | 220 lbs | ATH Conwell-Egan | 2025 State PA toting the rock. A lighter quicker frame that should keep backers and DBs on their toes. I think Thenor is a fabulous complimentary weapon that can be utilized in conjunction with Fairey in the backfield. I’m not sure if Thenor can catch the football, but he could be an option out of the backfield, I’d Imagine. We see Gipli, Cooper, at times Pond in the secondary, Thenor should be a viable option as a third corner, in whatever Egan calls a nickel package.
6’1, 220
Conwell-Egan can say they deploy two top-five athletes in their respective classes. One in Sam Cooper Sam Cooper 5’11” | 185 lbs | ATH Conwell-Egan | 2024 State PA , a senior. The other, Sicner Fairey, a junior. Anyone who follows me on Twitter, anyone who reads my reports will know what I think of this kid. One of the best edge-rushers in the PCL regardless of division. Double-digit sacks last Fall, would hardly surprise me to see him do it again. Not too many double-digit sack guys returning punts and kicks for touchdowns. Not too many double-digit sack guys with the skills to lead the team in rushing. I’m at a loss for more words on Sincer Fairey Sincer Fairey 6’1″ | 220 lbs | ATH Conwell-Egan | 2025 State PA at this point. Hopefully, his grades are in order so that college programs begin to hit his line after the first three games of the season.
6’1, 205, 4.7 GPA State Discus Q, 1210 SAT,
Colin Walker Colin Walker 6’1″ | 210 lbs | LB Conwell-Egan | 2025 State PA is a kid I’m excited about. He’s a year older, hopefully faster, stronger, more comfortable on the turf. We’ll see if he’s earned an expanded role this coming Fall. We list Walker as a LB, that’s very well where he might play in 2023, yet his sophomore tape has him all over the field. Quality inside and outside linebacker reps on tape, some EDGE and TE reps to be seen as well. Add long-snapping duties on special teams and you’ve got a vital piece to the puzzle. Colin Walker Colin Walker 6’1″ | 210 lbs | LB Conwell-Egan | 2025 State PA should realize how important he is to the team and capitalize on any and all opportunities presented to him. Whether those opportunities be filling in at ILb where Trunell left off, providing pass-rush opposite Fairey, maybe serve as the primary TE, Walker is primed for a boosted role nonetheless.

Tommy Gontz Tommy Gontz 5’10” | 165 lbs | QB Archbishop Ryan | 2025 State PA is now listed on Conwell-Egan’s Hudl. Unfamiliar with whether or not he’ll be attending the program, also unaware of his potential role. This was a prospect I was fond of in the past. Even if he’s not the man behind center, I’d bet he could be used as a weapon on offense in some fashion.

Isaiah Johnson
Isaiah Johnson
A new unranked name that I’ve added to my notes. Not much tape to work off of, yet he’s listed on the Hudl. Considering the exodus of talent that has graduated from the 2023 class, I’d imagine a big kid like this could be of use to the Eagle coaching staff. I’ll be looking for Isaiah Johnson when I attend games this Fall.
Chris Toombs Chris Toombs 6’4″ | 195 lbs | ATH Conwell-Egan | 2026 State PA ‘ ranking is strictly based on projection. 6’4, 195, 2026 pass-catcher who doesn’t have a lick of tape to his name. I still deliver with high praise and the young man could rush the passer opposite Fairey, while also serving as an OTN wideout who can compliment Sam Cooper Sam Cooper 5’11” | 185 lbs | ATH Conwell-Egan | 2024 State PA ‘s game. His rank will change as he continues to develop, his position may change as well. One thing I know, I’m excited to see this kid on the field. He’s already got some scrimmage tape floating on Twitter, a rep where he intercepts the football from his EDGE position. When his name pops in the PCL Blue, I won’t be surprised.

Abu Fofana Abu Fofana 6’0″ | 165 lbs | DB Conwell_Egan | 2026 State PA and Chase Walters Chase Walters 6’3″ | 240 lbs | OL Conwell-Egan | 2026 State PA should have been ranked this offseason, especially Walters, since he has a freshman tape posted on his Hudl. That’s an oversight on my part. With Patrick Wojo no longer in the building, Conwell-Egan is going to need Chase Walters Chase Walters 6’3″ | 240 lbs | OL Conwell-Egan | 2026 State PA to step up more than ever. Fully expect him to step up to the plate. 6’2, 220 pounds, IOL capable, probably at both guard spots. Has a linebacker build that is powerful enough to work in the trenches. Walters will couple with Lauersen as a pair of formidable trenchman blocking for Tryon.
Abu Fofana Abu Fofana 6’0″ | 165 lbs | DB Conwell_Egan | 2026 State PA should see extended playing time, at what position is out of my realm of knowledge. Back could be a possibility, so could WR or DB. I’m completely unfamiliar with this kid’s skill set, so I’m excited for him to show me something on Friday nights.
Jaeden Thenor Jaeden Thenor 5’6″ | 130 lbs | ATH Conwell-Egan | 2027 PA is an incoming freshman I have my eyes on. He likely won’t get too many reps, that’s me looking at the rest of the team and figuring out where he could possibly play. There are viable options at RB, DB, WR, maybe the young man can earn trust in practice and/or special teams. I’ll learn sooner rather than later.
