Choctaw quarterback Landon Gatson Landon Gatson 6'3" | 210 lbs | QB Choctaw | 2026 State OK has been a 2026 prospect that has always been on our radar. His sophomore season was limited because of an injury and last season, he split time in the backfield with another quarterback. This season, Gatson has been the guy and he’s shown why he might be the 2026 quarterback with the highest upside moving forward. First off, you watch Gatson in person and a couple things stand out. He passes the eye test with his physical presence. Then you see him push the ball down field and the senior has an absolute rocket launcher attached to his shoulder. You combine the running ability with his arm strength and you have a very underrated offensive weapon.

After years of splitting time at quarterback and sidelining injuries, senior signal caller Landon Gatson Landon Gatson 6'3" | 210 lbs | QB Choctaw | 2026 State OK appears to be ready to step into that QB1 role for the Yellowjackets this fall. Gatson is another player that’s going to immediately pass the eye test when he steps on the football field. Gatson is a true dual-threat quarterback that is just as dangerous in the running game, specifically near the goal line. Last season, Gatson finished with nearly 500 yards and 11 touchdowns on the ground. Now, as we start to look ahead to the 2025 season, all eyes will be on Gatson to see how he looks in the passing game. And he’s hungry to take advantage of his opportunity.

Choctaw quarterback Landon Gatson Landon Gatson 6'3" | 210 lbs | QB Choctaw | 2026 State OK has been a 2026 prospect that quite frankly, we haven’t known what to do with for the last two years. As a sophomore, Gatson had his season cut short to an injury. Last season, he was used as a run-first quarterback as the Yellowjackets had an experienced starter returning at QB. But now, Gatson is ready to be THE guy in the Choctaw offense and the sky is the limit for what he can be this season. So when we rank the Choctaw signal caller, we’re doing a lot of projecting because his ceiling as a prospect is incredibly high. Physically, he checks all the boxes and he showed last season he can be a serious threat as a runner. As a pure passer, not enough people around the state know about just how strong his arm is and they’re about to find out this fall. This could be a huge season for the Choctaw signal caller.

Choctaw quarterback Landon Gatson Landon Gatson 6'3" | 210 lbs | QB Choctaw | 2026 State OK helped the Yellowjackets to their first state championship in six decades. Gatson has been another 2026 signal caller on our radar for a while now but he’s had to be patient and wait for his moment to strike. During his sophomore season, Gatson was limited basically the entire year because of an injury. Last season, Gatson would see the field plenty but he wasn’t QB1. Looking ahead to the 2025 season, this could be the year that Gatson absolutely explodes. Every time we’ve watched him in person, you see all of the tools are there for him to be one of the best quarterbacks in the state. He just has to go out and do it on Friday night when all eyes are on him and they certainly will be when this fall rolls around.

The other quarterback in the mix at Choctaw is junior Landon Gatson Landon Gatson 6'3" | 210 lbs | QB Choctaw | 2026 State OK and similar to the position Williams was in last year, Gatson is now hungry to get back on the field following a season-ending injury. Gatson is such a unique player to watch this season because from a talent standpoint, there aren’t many quarterbacks in the state’s 2026 class that can match what Gatson is bringing to the table. So Choctaw has an interesting situation where Gatson can certainly help them if he’s on the field. He has one of the strongest arms in the state and he’s also a threat to run with a big and physical frame. The lefty had a good offseason and is ready for a comeback.

Choctaw quarterback Landon Gatson Landon Gatson 6'3" | 210 lbs | QB Choctaw | 2026 State OK is on our shortlist of players we’re fired up to see this season. Gatson missed almost all of his sophomore season with an injury and is back to 100 percent. He has torn it up on the camp circuit this offseason and looked the part when we saw him in person at team camp last month. When he’s healthy and playing at his best, Gatson is one of the top quarterbacks in this class. And you can certainly make the argument that he’s in the number one spot. Gatson has all the potential in the world and the ceiling is very high for him moving forward. The only thing left to do is prove it on the field on Friday nights. He’s looking forward to the opportunity.
