One of the top defensive backs in the state, coming in as the No. 4 DB in the Class of 2026, Ankeny’s La’Marious Clark La’Marious Clark 5'11" | 165 lbs | DB Ankeny | 2026 State IA committed to the University of Northern Iowa just this last weekend, October 19.
A monster on the backend of the Hawks’ defense, Clark has registered four interceptions this season, including a pick-six. In fact, the grabbed interceptions three games in a row in September. He’s also recovered two fumbles this season for Ankeny, returning one for a touchdown. All of that to go along with 22 tackles and 3.5 TFLs.
An All-State DB, Clark has 11 career interceptions to go with 129.5 career tackles. He chose the Panthers over Upper Iowa and Minnesota State.

Clark impressed the heck out of me when the Hawks played at Iowa City Liberty last season. They also met in the playoffs. He helped Ankeny hold the Lightning to two of its lower point outputs on the season. Clark has length at cornerback, always a coveted quality, especially when it comes with fluid movements. Northern Iowa offered a scholarship in April, and I’d expect Clark to receive more attention from colleges if he picks up where he left off in 2024. Against a salty group of Liberty receivers, Clark shined. He flips his hips quickly and uses his hands well. Against the run, Clark willingly crashes down and is a technically-sound tackler. His frame has room to fill out without him losing any assets. It will help him stay sturdy in playing the rush on the next level.

Clark came through as a junior for the Hawks, which I was able to see during an in-person scout at Iowa City Liberty last season. The versatile athlete intercepted five passes, two of which he took back to the house. He also piled up 56 tackles in earning first-team all-state honors. Clark’s 11th-grade highlight video reveals his big-play ability. Clark looks comfortable lining up against slot receivers. He sticks with wideouts and reacts well to the ball in the air. Clark anticipates what’s coming his way, which helps while playing zone. Ankeny will use him for blitzes on passing and running plays. He gets home and is sound tackler.
