The #2 overall QB in the 2025 class gave the fans down in Miami something to be excited this week. Nickel had a spectacular performance in the 42-35 win over a very talented Langston Hughes squad. He completed 15 of 16 passes for 337 yards and 4 TDs with 2 carries for 22 yards. Exceptional arm talent and has pinpoint accuracy downfield.

One of the state’s top quarterbacks for the last several years now, this Miami commitment is hoping to lead the mighty Milton Eagles to a second-consecutive state championship this season in his final season. An accurate quarterback with exceptional ball placement, Nickel is a leader and a winner. He’s thrown for 2,706 yards and 31 touchdowns this season and coming off a big round two performance against Dutchtown where he threw for 243 yards and three touchdowns. Nickel and the Eagles host Houston County on Friday night.

A quarterback who consistently wins, Nickel is one of the very best signal-callers not only in Georgia but across the South in the 2025 class. The poised, accurate quarterback led Milton to a 7A state title last year, and now the Miami commitment is looking to lead the Eagles to another title. He’s been terrific once again this fall, throwing for 2,312 yards and 24 touchdowns, completing 66% of his passes. More importantly, he’s led Milton to an undefeated record as they enter the playoffs. Nickel and the Milton Eagles will take on Woodstock in the first round on Friday night. Look for Nickel to have a big game for the Eagles to get their playoff run started.

The University of Miami commit had an efficient night on Friday completing 9 of 12 passes for 227 yards and a TD in a 47-0 win over Chattahoochee.
Nickel has already eclipsed the 1000 yard mark on just 98 passing attempts for the #1 (5A) Ranked Eagles. Fundamentally sound QB with good size that will have success at the next level.

Nickel had a lower body injury like Longstreet did but he was sharp on all three days.
He scored a 45 in the Pro Day portion of Day 2 and his release is smooth. His arm strength is good and he can fit the ball into tight windows.

Nickel has been one of my more frequent in-person evaluations over the last few years, and he has improved with seemingly every watch. He is a thick, sturdy 6’2 205 and exhibits some toughness in the pocket and when scrambling. He has a strong arm and keeps the ball high when he fires, which allows him to layer the ball over LBs and under safeties. He can also play off-platform, getting out on the move and rocketing the ball through the air while on the move. Nickel’s ability to perform when the lights are the brightest and bounce back from mistakes raises his floor a few notches. Nickel’s delivery reminds me of Bo Nix and is a QB that can get it done at the next level when it matters most, even if the numbers aren’t as great as others.

I have seen Nickel in person more than any other QB prospect, and he impresses me more with every watch. He has always been a toolsy player, possessing a strong arm and underrated running ability. I have drawn comparisons to Bo Nix, skillset and mannerisms wise. Nickel has the occasional misfire, but the way he responds is impressive. I saw him struggle early against Colquitt County just to come back and play at an extremely high level the rest of the night. He plays his best ball when the lights get brighter, which helped lead Milton to a state championship win.
