It is time for one of my favorite offseason articles! Another roundup of the most impressive weight lifting performance from across Wisconsin. March saw several schools hold a max out day this month giving us some huge numbers from several athletes that need to be highlighted. That is what we are going to do today. We actually have so many athletes that you can expect two parts to this series. Let’s kick off Part One, right now! [player_tooltip player_id="304531" first="Levi" last="Bolstad"], ’23 LB/FB- Onalaska Lift: 250 lbs Bench Max, 235 lbs Power Clean Max, 435 lbs Squat Max, 365 lbs Squat 5 X 5 This is Levi’s first appearance, and it is an impressive one. I’m expecting explosive play off the edge this fall with clean and squat numbers like his. Looks like a power lower half will be giving him a good first step off the line. https://twitter.com/BolstadLevi/status/1498663637204017157 https://twitter.com/BolstadLevi/status/1509555097927356420 [player_tooltip player_id="226597" first="JJ" last="Love"], ’23 OL- Milton Lift: 275 lbs Bench Max You can see it right in the tweet! JJ has been grinding this offseason, and he has seen the returns of the grind. He now has increased his bench press by 40 lbs this offseason. The compact, powerful IOL is going to have quite the initial punch this fall at this rate. Lot of offseason left to go too. So, there is plenty of time to add to that total. https://twitter.com/Drlove2305/status/1498794647002439688 [player_tooltip player_id="202696" first="Carter" last="Christy"], ’24 LB- Wisconsin Rapids Lift: 435 lbs 3 Rep Squat Max, 308.5 lbs State Record Bench Press for 90 KG Weight Class Carter has been the most consistent member of this series. The sophomore has been making insane gains, and it is showing itself on the big stage of HS Powerlifting here in WI. At the state competition he finished in 6th place overall. Carter is going to be a force at LB this fall in Wis Rapids. His range, ability to shed blocks, and tackling should all see big time improvements. https://twitter.com/CarterChristy42/status/1498802814600032256 https://twitter.com/CarterChristy42/status/1506388707569545222 Blake Berry, ’23 RB- Kimberly Lift: 495 lb Squat Max out day right after wrestling shows the commitment the Kimberly athletes have in the gym. Berry didn’t miss a step as he transitioned into his offseason and ripped off a massive 495 lbs squat. The RB already ran behind his shoulder pads well. With a stronger leg drive this fall we could see big numbers for the soon to be senior ball carrier. https://twitter.com/blakebarry0/status/1498812776130744323 [player_tooltip player_id="31407" first="Jack" last="Statz"], ’23 DB- Kimberly Lift: 475 lbs Squat, 310 lbs Bench Press Sometimes I don’t understand how some of these kids can move the weight that they do. Jack is a long, lean 185 lbs athlete. Yet, here he is hitting depth with 475 lbs and driving 310 lbs off his chest. With that type of power paired with his range it looks like Statz is going to be one to watch this fall. Great max out week for him. https://twitter.com/StatzJack/status/1498825772282396677 [player_tooltip player_id="304591" first="Teal" last="Lucas"], ’23 QB- Wisconsin Rapids Lift: 405 lbs Squat 3 Rep Max Another regular in this series is the athletic QB from Wis Rapids. The weight lifting program there has been pumping out elite numbers this winter, and they keep coming. back on Feb 1 Teal hit 365 lbs for 3 reps. Fast forward a month and he has worked his way up to 405 lbs. I can’t wait to see it translate to the field this fall. https://twitter.com/teal_lucas/status/1498814152382586884 [player_tooltip player_id="315921" first="Jacob" last="Hanson"], ’25 DB- Green Bay Southwest Lift: 235 lbs Bench Press, 460 lbs Squat School Record What a month for the freshman! He was able to hit his goal of 235 on bench, and then a day later broke his school record with a massive squat. Green Bay Southwest has a few athletes that grabbed my attention the past few months. Jacob is one of them that I will be watching. Can’t wait to watch him develop over the years. https://twitter.com/JacobKHanson/status/1498813601938911236 https://twitter.com/JacobKHanson/status/1499160928742514688 [player_tooltip player_id="104563" first="Ethan" last="Doucette"], ’23 LB- Kimberly Lift: 515 lbs Squat Another max out week top performer was standout LB [player_tooltip player_id="104563" first="Ethan" last="Doucette"]. He had to dig deep and fight for this rep, but he hit depth and brought it back up for the huge lift! I think we are setting up for a huge year out of Doucette. He already dominated last fall, but I think he could be just getting started. He has clearly been working this offseason. https://twitter.com/EthanDoucette8/status/1498825025876635655 Marcus Doucette, ’25 ATH- Kimberly Lift: 405 lbs Front Squat The more I read the tweet the harder I found it to believe. A 405 lbs squat is elite. A 405 lbs front squat is almost unbelievable. A 15 year old doing it sounds impossible! Yet, here we are. Marcus is an up and coming beast that you can bet I will be keeping a close eye on from now on. WOW! https://twitter.com/doucettemarcus1/status/1498841882557878278 Carter Erdmann, ’25 DL- Kimberly Lift: 430 lbs Squat The freshman group up at Kimberly HS is looking like a strong one! Carter had complete control over this 430 lbs squat max attempt. I’m excited to watch him grow and build up on that strength. https://twitter.com/CarterErdmann_/status/1498825036660154373 [player_tooltip player_id="304672" first="Blake" last="Carew"], ’23 LB- Kimberly Lift: Blake is undersized for the LB position, but you can’t say anything about his strength. Having the complete body control and power to hit this lift alleviates my concerns about his size. If he can translate this strenth to the field a college coach will find a role for him. https://twitter.com/BlakeCarew9/status/1498833922976894981 Michael Padgett, ’23 DL- Kimberly Lift: 550 lbs Squat This is another lift I don’t understand. 550 lbs moving this smoothly down and up is not something I expect to see. Kimberly HS has made numbers like this a common occurrence. The 6’ 275 lbs DL is going to be a beast t o watch in the middle of the Kimberly defense this fall. https://twitter.com/mpadgett_97/status/1499055108470022155 Brady Porubcan, ’24 OL- Muskego Lift: 525 lbs Squat PR Brady has been putting in the work this offseason. It took him barely over a month and a half to push his squat max up by 25 lbs. Coming in at 6’1" 340 lbs I am expecting big running lanes to be opened up for that dominant Muskego rushing attack. https://twitter.com/BradyPorubcan/status/1499154073861427202 [player_tooltip player_id="31404" first="Jaiden" last="Pickett"], ’23 DB/ATH- Riverside University Lift: 225 lbs Bench Press X 12 Reps This kid continues to check off boxes. 6’3" 190 lbs with the strength to rep 225 for 12 reps, yet also possess the range to roam the back half of the defense. It is an intriguing combination that has the D1 level hoping to earn his skill set. https://twitter.com/Jaipickett31/status/1499194235899232261 [player_tooltip player_id="104585" first="Nolan" last="Olson"], ’23 DL- Sun Prairie Lift: 315 lbs Bench Press 3 plates on bench is one of the prime goals of any gym rat. Nolan accomplished that goal this month as he was able to hit 315 lbs on this smooth rep. Nolan is a rising DL prospect. Every time I have seen him I leave more impressed. https://twitter.com/NolanOlson11/status/1498971823874191360 [player_tooltip player_id="304540" first="Abel" last="Mulder"], ’23 OL- St. Catherine’s Lift: 385 lbs Bench Press, 265 lbs Power Clean, Both School Records Abel has had himself an elite month of March in the house of gainz! He broke two school records that highlight his upper body strength and overall explosiveness. We still have a solid 4 months ahead of us for him to keep building on that strength. Name to know for this fall. https://twitter.com/Abel_mulder1/status/1499249839015608323 https://twitter.com/Abel_mulder1/status/1499528235461316612 [player_tooltip player_id="270788" first="Tommy" last="Verheyen"], ’24 LB- Brookfield East Lift: 530 lbs Trap Bar Deadlift Love to see a young dude battling for a huge lift! Tommy gripped and ripped this huge pull back on March 3, and passing out was not even an option. Love to see the fight in this kid. https://twitter.com/tommy_verheyen/status/1499535238699130885 [player_tooltip player_id="105015" first="Logan" last="Gross"], ’24 OL- Sun Prairie LIft: 245 lbs Power Clean Logan is going to make a big jump in his junior year. He is so technically sound, and we see he is putting in the work on his strength and athletic profile. Big things are coming. I can’t wait to see it pay off for him. https://twitter.com/loganrgross/status/1499541379193745408 [player_tooltip player_id="145828" first="Anthony" last="Corona"], ’23 DB- Wilmot Lift: 245 lbs Power Clean, 455 lbs Squat PR DB2 in the state of WI is grinding. He hit 245 lbs on power clean, and already has his sights set on 275 lbs. He also hit a new PR on squat. Top to bottom, Anthony is transforming his body that has him in line to be a legitimate D1 athlete. Corona stood out last season. He is going to be a problem this year. Powerful and athletic. https://twitter.com/32AnthonyCorona/status/1499517750175272963 https://twitter.com/32AnthonyCorona/status/1504507666101583873 [player_tooltip player_id="304435" first="Blaike" last="Loker"], ’23 OL- Kimberly Lift: 500 lbs Squat I have written a few times about the big man from Kimberly, and we have to go back to him again after joining the 500 lbs club on this massive squat. He fought for every inch of it, but he didn’t quit. Now he has a new max, and his team was hyped for it. Love these videos! https://twitter.com/BlaikeLoker/status/1498822836336697344 [player_tooltip player_id="31403" first="Isaac" last="Dechant"], ’23 FB- Kimberly Lift: 505 lbs Squat Isaac is going to be bulldozing open running lanes this fall. To have the lower body power at sub-220 lbs to squat 500+ lbs is rare. Between his huge lift and Barry’s good luck slowing down the Kimberly running game this fall. https://twitter.com/IsaacDechant/status/1498824042266206211 [player_tooltip player_id="304653" first="Julien" last="Frechette"], ’23 WR- Brookfield East Lift: 415 lbs Trap Bar Deadlift, 205 lbs Bench Press The junior ha been working on filling out hi frame this offseason, and it paid off with him hitting two PRs in the early parts of March. He has been doing well on the 7V7 circuit as well. https://twitter.com/FrechetteJulien/status/1499523505288843267 https://twitter.com/FrechetteJulien/status/1498809060786950144 [player_tooltip player_id="268944" first="Karson" last="Ernst"], ’24 OL- Kaukauna Lift 450 lbs Squat One of the top up and coming sophomores is building up that lower body strength so he can create even more movement in the trenches this fall. I hope to see Karson take the next step this fall and gain a lot of attention. Kaukauna has a talented OL, and Ernst is a big reason. https://twitter.com/karson_ernst/status/1499887368525991937 [player_tooltip player_id="245951" first="Noah" last="Glazebrook"], ’23 ATH- Union Grove Lift: 305 lbs Bench Press, 500 lbs Squat March was a big month for an impressive athlete. The 225 lbs athlete can play all over the play, and he is developing the strength so that he can continue to have that versatility at the next level. He cleared 300 lbs on bench and 500 lbs on squat. It translates to the field too. Noah is explosive in the lower body, and has the upper body strength needed to win hand fights. https://twitter.com/noahglazebrook/status/1500842120592052230 https://twitter.com/noahglazebrook/status/1501552254549176321 [player_tooltip player_id="206639" first="Blake" last="Fletcher"], ’23 LB- Racine Horlick Lift: 345 lbs Front Squat, 275 lbs Power Clean LB2 has been hitting the gym hard. He suffered a broken leg in week three of 2021, but it looks like that is in the past. His lower body is looking strong, sturdy, and explosive. He is going to tear it up this fall on both sides of the ball. https://twitter.com/HorlickFootball/status/1500829154840915971 https://twitter.com/CoachBSandberg/status/1501541714233741317 [player_tooltip player_id="300102" first="Cole" last="Stevens"], ’23 OL- D.C. Everest Lift: 405 lbs Squat X 10 Reps Cole took 405 lbs for a quick ride of 10 reps bqck on the 7th. He made it look easy, and it is just one of the reasons that the D1 level has been showing interest and getting him out to campus. https://twitter.com/ColeSte55891356/status/1500931777040375813 [player_tooltip player_id="136315" first="Evan" last="Richmond"], ’23 ATH- Sun Prairie Lift: 405 lbs Squat, 275 lbs Bench Press, 265 lbs Power Clean All of these numbers are great for a player who plays out in space. The clean number is what has my attention. that is where you get a taste of his explosiveness. According to that number he is more explosive than ever. Breakout year incoming. https://twitter.com/EvanRichmond03/status/1501315351732178953 Matthew Motl, ’24 RB- Marshall Lift: 500 lbs Squat, 310 lbs Bench Press I haven’t looked into Matthew’s game too much, but I need to get on it. He ripped off a huge 500 lbs squat this month, and paired it with a 300_ lbs bench press. He has the strength to play at the next level. I’m interested in seeing what the film looks like. https://twitter.com/matthewmotl_/status/1501287580628828160 https://twitter.com/matthewmotl_/status/1501407055311159312 [player_tooltip player_id="104385" first="Jaden" last="Sharkey"], ’23 DL- Union Grove Lift: 300 lbs Bench Press Big day as the big man out of Union Grove HS joined the 300 lbs club. That is a 35 lbs PR showing me that the dude has been grinding. He has been rebuilding his body this past year, and I love seeing it pay off with big gains in the weight room. Keep an eye on this kid. He puts in the work. https://twitter.com/cxclapper80/status/1500846098231046148 [player_tooltip player_id="259465" first="Noah" last="Moris"], ’23 OL- Union Grove Lift: 435 lbs Squat Noah is a tweener as far as his body’s build goes, but you can’t argue with the power he possesses. 435 lbs is his new max according to the tweet, but he looks like he has even more in the tank. Moris is a powerful player that schools need to find a role for. Carthage has been the first to reach out with a roster offer. First of many if I had to guess. https://twitter.com/noahmoris57/status/1501550989094043648 [player_tooltip player_id="268941" first="Sam" last="McGivern"], ’24 DL- Kimberly Lift: 495 lbs Squat X 5 Reps Kimberly has killed the month of March in the gym. Our final member of the group is Sam. The 15 year old has a great 6’3" 220 lbs frame, and we can clearly see he has the strength to match. He took 495 lbs for a smooth, easy ride. He is going to keep climbing our rankings quickly at this rate. https://twitter.com/SamMcGivern2/status/1501729362537811968 [player_tooltip player_id="232612" first="Dylan" last="Dobratz"], ’23 ATH- Wausau West Lift: 365 lbs Squat 3 X 8 I’m pumped to see where Dylan is used this fall. He played OL last year out of necessity. It sounds like he will be used more out in space this fall. It is going to be fun to watch. I hope to get out to one of their games this fall to see the deep Wausau West roster. https://twitter.com/DylDobie18/status/1502122535802056704 [player_tooltip player_id="200065" first="Ethan" last="Mathe"], ’24 RB- Winneconne Lift: 315 lbs Bench Press, 455 lbs Squat Ethan is a compact, powerful RB on film. Now we know he has earned that power with a dedication to the gym. He hit 315 on bench for the first time, which is a huge milestone in the lifting community. He also continued building on his powerful lower half with a big 455 lbs squat. He had a huge role last year. Even bigger numbers are on the way. https://twitter.com/ethanbm11_ethan/status/1502291559521259524 https://twitter.com/ethanbm11_ethan/status/1502441806620995587
