There are some jaw-dropping plays in this midseason highlight! We knew the strengths of Ethan’s game coming into the season, but he has pushed them to the next level. He is looking so explosive through 4 weeks. His lateral agility and his ability to start/stop on a dime are outstanding traits. Ethan has many plays where he goes from surrounded to running in the open field because of one juke and burst of speed. His lightning quick movements are so fun to watch, and they look impossible to corral. Mathe also plays with a low center of gravity. Some of the angles and hits he keeps his feet through are hard to fathom. His vision to find lanes, and blocks, or to find cutback lanes is next level quality. Ethan is an exciting change of pace back that will provide a mismatch out in space. Click on the midseason tape below!

We end the Top RB Performers with a Prep Redzone WI Showcase veteran. I love when we get the same athletes back for multiple events. It allows you to see the growth that they have had over the past months. The first thing I noticed was his frame. This was the sharpest, and most muscular that the junior has looked. The 5’6′ 172 lbs Winneconne RB will have a chance to have a big year in his final year of HS ball. The biggest takeaway of the event when it comes to Ethan is that he is becoming the mismatch nightmare you hoped he would become.
We got to watch it in the one on one battles to end Session I. Mathe could cut or make the break in his route and burst out of it and up to top speed in an instant. He didn’t tip off his routes either, which left LBs relying on just their ability to react and then keep up with him through the route. His routes were very sharp overall. Mathe also showed off the soft hands to make catches away from his body. It was another great showing for the junior. Look for him to be one of the best change of pace/third down backs in the Class of 2024 here in WI.

Stats: 175 Rushing Yards, 3 TDsrnEthan is about as compact as they come. He is 5’7″ but also carries 175 lbs giving him more sturdiness, and power than you would expect. I came away impressed by the RB’s vision with the ball in his hands. He always found his way to more green grass while always moving down the field. Mathe sees his block swell, and seems to know where the openings in the second level and secondary will be. The kid finishes his runs hard too. He is a huge part of the Winneconne offense on a weekly basis.
