Expert Analysis
Mark Johnson | Prep Redzone Scout
Carter had a dominant Week 8 performance in Wis Rapids’ win over Appleton West. He was a menace against the passing game. His blitzing was wrecking havoc throughout the night. Carter timed his get off well, he showed some pass rush moves when attacking the edge, and demonstrated good closing speed. Even he didn’t get home in time for a sack, the senior was able to throw off timing and put a lot of pressure on the QB consistently. The MLB also has the athleticism to be able to sit back, spy the QB, and then close on him when he breaks out of the pocket. The senior also did good playing the run, filling his gap, moving through the front seven while avoiding all the traffic on the way to the ball. Carter also can be relied on to be a sound tackler. The senior LB is a big time steal in the making. He is experienced, productive, and talented.

Carter was a linebacker prospect I have heard of from our Wisconsin scout Mark Johnson a bit, and is one that caught my attention during the UND Flagship Camp as well. I loved watching this young man’s poise that he showed off on the bulk of reps I got to watch versus the running backs, as Carter showed off well-versed technique with his pad-level and heavy physicality that with his solid footwork left his mark winning a handful of reps against the running back group. Carter also showed off fluid attention to detail from my eyes, as a prospect that was persistently working with the UND staff to lock in more with his technique. The tape I watched from Carter showed off some high-charging instincts not just with his skillsets but with his massive motor he plays with. I have found out he is also very active in the weight room (545 squat, 410 bench press) especially this summer, as a under the radar prospect with just one WIAC offer thus far but looks like he should have a big senior season for Wisconsin Rapids. Carter is one of the most powerful athletes who will be returning to the football field this coming fall. Look at the squat linked below! 545 lbs while weighing 210- 215 lbs. A smooth ride down to parallel, and just as smooth on the way up. Christy is a great follow for other athletes when it comes to lifting. You can always count on him using great form, and putting up insane numbers. Carter also added a 365 lbs bench press later in the month. When I grow up I want to be as strong as

The final athlete that I strongly believe teams need to consider going outside the threshold for is Rapids LB

. The 6′ 210 lbs athlete is compact for an LB, but he is filling out his frame well. The most impressive part is how strong he is. You will be hard pressed to find a stronger athlete. Especially pound for pound. That translates to game day too. Carter is able to bull rush right through interior offensive linemen. He doesn’t slow down as he plows through and wraps up the ball carrier. The stout defender has molded his game to make him a reliable run stopper. Keep an eye on him. He has improved his play year after year.

My final standout prospect was the junior ILB out of Wisconsin Rapids. The 6′ 200 lbs backer fit perfectly into this game where he could attack downhill against the run. His ability to read the flow of the line allowed him to move and get into position to make stops on multiple occasions. It didn’t matter where the ball was. It seemed like Carter was getting up off every pile. His sideline to sideline run stopping is his top trait. He is a junior to keep track of this season, and next.
