They’re led by a handful of seniors, but have great juniors and an even freshman turning heads. Let’s take a look at which Jenks players had notable performances against Edmond Santa Fe.
Jaiden Carroll Jaiden Carroll 5'10" | 180 lbs | RB Jenks | 2023 State OK – 2023 RB
The bellcow of the Jenks attack, Carroll is runner with good patience. He’s able to find the lanes his offensive line provides. When running up the middle he runs with good contact balance and keeps his legs moving to gain yards after contact. His biggest play of the night came in the third quarter on a long touchdown run. He shrugged off a shoulder tackle on the edge, then accelerated into space and kept his speed going when cutting back against pursing defenders before racing to the endzone.
Glenny Jones Glenny Jones 5'10" | ATH Jenks | 2022 State OK – 2022, WR/DB
The senior rarely leaves the field and it’s easy to see why. He’s a playmaker on both sides of ball. He was able to haul in shorter catches in the flat, but he also exploded for a longer gain on a go route in the third quarter. Defensively is where he lets his swag shine, as he has good ball skills that allows him to play bigger than his size when breaking up passers. He’s also a hard-nosed defender, with a willingness to track down and be a physical tackler on ball carriers.
Shaker Reisig Shaker Reisig 6'0" | 185 lbs | QB Union | 2025 State OK – 2025 QB
The freshman looks the part of a much older player. He plays mistake free football and was very accurate with his leading of his receivers to set them up to not only catch the ball, but set them up to make plays as well. Reising had a couple deep ball throws that went just past the defender and into the hands of his receivers as well. He was comfortable in the pocket and even climbing up it avoid pressure. Not a run first QB, but Reisig can break the pocket to scramble or move well on designed rollouts.
Jalyn Stanford Jalyn Stanford 6'0" | 180 lbs | DB Jenks | 2023 State OK – 2023 RB/DB
Stanford’s is Jenks’ swiss army knife. He made plays as a running back, kick returner and as a safety. His explosiveness was made evident by his opening kick return that went into Santa Fe territory. He mixed in at running back but made more of a mark on Thursday night on defense. He was a physical tackler when flying up to attack the ball. And showed his playmaking skills by securing a late game interception in the back of the endzone.
AJ Brown AJ Brown 6'1" | 300 lbs | DL Jenks | 2022 State OK – 2022 DT
The big man controlled the middle of the field, as Santa Fe could never gain any traction with interior runs. Along with occupying blockers with his big frame, he was able to use strong hands to shed them and make tackles. When the defense was having discipline issues in the third quarter, he was the Trojan keeping a cool head. Brown showed leadership by urging his teammates to remain calm and play smart.
