2027 George Washington DB Demajaih Spencer continues to climb after a breakout junior season and a strong offseason on the camp circuit. Spencer earned DB MVP honors at our recent Exposure Series event, showcasing the athleticism and coverage skills that have made him one of the fastest-rising defensive backs in the state. His recruiting profile has grown alongside his play, with offers from WV Wesleyan, WV State, and Fairmont State already in hand. Spencer has steadily worked his way up the rankings over the past year and now sits as the #7 DB in the 2027 class. With his confidence and momentum continuing to build, he looks poised for another big season in George Washington’s secondary.

DB MVP
George Washington’s Demajaih Spencer had quite the eye-opening showcase performance that resulted in him earning DB MVP honors. Spencer started things off with a solid testing portion, posting marks of 4.47 on the shuttle drill, 7.18 on the L-Drill, and 4.82 on the 40-yard dash. Demajaih really impressed with his technique, showing a very sound skill set and great discipline in coverage. He showed off his strength a bit when pressing DBs, showing he can jam them up to disrupt timing. He uses his length to his advantage by making sure to get his hands up to defend passes and poke balls out through the catch process. Good footwork during his backpedal, fluid hips to change direction, and solid recovery speed. Demajaih looks primed to break out this season.

One of my favorite players to watch on Sunday, Spencer was the DB MVP, but also a top performer with a deep running back room. This shows you his versatility as he amongst the best players on site. The 72nd ranked prospect in West Virginia 2027 class, Spencer had himself a day, especially in the testing where he was near the top of every category.

There’s plenty of intrigue surrounding what 2027 George Washington DB Demajaih Spencer can do at the WV Exposure Series because the athletic tools are already there. He has established himself as one of the higher-ranked players at the position entering the event, and Sunday gives him another opportunity to show why. Spencer moves well and has the type of athleticism that should translate during both testing and coverage work. One of the bigger evaluations will be how he handles the physical side of competition against bigger receivers throughout the day. If he competes aggressively and tests the way he’s capable of, Spencer should leave camp with a strong overall showing.

enters the offseason as a prospect whose upward trajectory continues to gain momentum. After flashing early potential earlier in his career, Spencer took a noticeable step forward during his junior season, producing 15 receptions for 253 yards while also contributing defensively with four pass breakups and an interception. That development pushed him further up the rankings and reinforced the progress he’s made on both sides of the ball. With Capital consistently producing high-level defensive backs, Spencer now enters a pivotal offseason where refinement, physical growth, and consistency could elevate him into an even larger role. If he builds on last season’s momentum, he has the opportunity to solidify himself as the next standout in the program’s defensive back lineage as a senior.

made a big jump both as a player and in the rankings in his junior year. He had 15 catches for 253 yards and had 4 PBUs and an interception on defense that pushed him into the Top 75 of the rankings in this update. Capital has been producing high-quality defensive backs, and Spencer has the potential to be the next in line if he takes another step forward as a senior.

. He’s new to the program this season for the Cougars and immediately earned a starting spot in their secondary. Spencer has also become a threat on offense at receiver this season and has big-play potential on that side of the ball. He has natural ability as a corner and should continue to develop well at that position over the next year and a half.

had a standout performance for his new squad with 2 receptions for 103 yards and a 34-yard interception return on defense. Spencer displayed his playmaking ability as a pass catcher in two different ways, taking a quick pass for a big gain as he weaved through the defense, and his second catch beating his man over the top on a go ball. His physciality at corner against a big tight end on defense allowed Spencer to secure his interception as he made a large impact on the win in limited touches.

will transfer into the Capital program from George Washington and further solidify the Cougars’ DB room. He flashed a lot of potential at GW on their JV team, but should make a big impact on varsity as a junior this fall.
Here’s what we recently said about Spencer in our 2027 Rankings New Additions article:
“Capital will be adding to their already deep and talented defensive back group with 2027 George Washington transfer DJ Spenver this season. He rounds out our 2027 defensive back Top 10 ranking and is someone who has the potential to climb higher in the future once he gets more varsity opportunities. You can see the vision of what he can become in his JV and varsity spot duty sophomore tape from last season, especially once he adds more size to his frame. Spencer is a plus athlete with the speed, quickness, and fluidity to develop into a future lockdown corner for the Cougars, which we should see some evidence of as a junior this season.”
