Rise: #47 up to #28
Can’t ask for more from a sophomore QB than what Dalton did at Catholic Memorial in his first year as a varsity starter. Dalton led the offense deep into the playoffs, put up 30 TDs through the air and left no doubt that he is going to be a kid that will impact the landscape of the D3/D4 level of WI HS football.
Dalton is a technician within the pocket. Quick feet, sufficient throwing motion, poised under pressure. He does a great job with his decision making of who to target and where to put the ball. That pinpoint accuracy has proof of consistency to every level of the field. The ’28 can move the pocket or get outside of it and maintain that accuracy on the move. Big things ahead for Dalton and the Catholic Memorial offense as he continues to stack experience and build upon his physical tools.

stepped into the QB1 role for Catholic Memorial and didn’t look back. The underclassman follows a long line of successful CM QBs and his first season suggests he is working his way towards being the best in the bunch. A solid frame, smooth but quick feet, and a fast release equip him to be able to see the field and get the ball out quickly and on time. The 2028 doesn’t shy away from chances to show off the deep ball either. He can get it out there to his elite targets and hit them in stride so that they can catch and run without breaking stride. The sophomore was extremely efficient with his passes too turning those 114 completions into 28 TDs. This is just the start for Dalton too. His trajectory of development is going up quickly.

There was a lot of hype and excitement for the new QB1 at Catholic Memorial. It was well deserved, and being lived up to with CM still in the playoffs and with Dalton putting up 1,886 passing yards with 28 TDs along with nearly 200 rushing yards and 4 more TDs. The tape is far more impressive than the numbers are. The sophomore is already so technically sound from his feet to his release. The ball gets out of his hand quickly. We see him make quick decisions and smart reads. Dalton also does a great job of not putting the ball in harms way while creating this big plays. The rising 2028 does a great job of pushing the ball downfield and has the arm strength to be able to drive it into windows as well as take the top off the defense to his speedy targets. This is going to be a name to know in this Class. So get him on your boards, today.

Dalton went crazy in Week 2! The sophomore starter was on a mission to push the ball deep downfield throughout the night and he delivered. The ball jumps out of his hand and dropped right into the hands of his targets in stride leading to big time plays after the catch. Dalton’s mechanics are developing quickly, from his footwork to the release and how well everything works together. I was also impressed with his mobility in the pocket and when he decided to keep it himself. The early returns are looking great for the up and coming signal caller.

. Catholic Memorial graduates both QBs who saw action in 2024 including standout MJ Mitchell. That leaves the door wide open for Dalton who comes into the role ready and able to handle the responsibility. Dalton thrives with his pinpoint accuracy and touch while not being afraid to push the ball to all three levels of the field. Over the years Catholic Memorial has been best when we see a dual threat at QB, and Dalton will be able to bring that to the field with his athleticism. Steinke looks like a great fit for the job. I’m jacked up to watch him develop on a weekly basis this fall.

. The 6’1″ 175 lbs freshman has been dedicated towards developing his game this offseason so that he is ready for Friday nights. His freshman highlights show a kid that thrives by being technically sound and accurate. He stretches the field with touch and as he gets older and stronger we are going to continue to see the arm strength increase. In fact we could see the biggest jump in his game in that area come this fall. Dalton is in position to win the job and he has been putting in the work to earn it. Don’t sleep on the 2028.

2028 QB Dalton Steiner is in a great position to earn the starting varsity job at Catholic Memorial. The two seniors that were ahead of him in 2024 will graduate this summer leaving him as the next man up to lead the unit into 2025.
Dalton has the talent to win the job and get the job done as a sophomore. The ’28 looked great at the Elite QB Camp last weekend. He is building a frame that can handle varsity action, the ball jumps out of his hand and can carry its velocity to most levels of the field. Plus he has already developed the consistent mechanics to allow him to have very good control over his ball placement. I’m excited to see if he wins the job. Three years of Dalton leading this team would be very fun to watch.

. The building blocks that Dalton has to build upon are special. It is clear that the ’28 has put in a lot of time on his mechanics. Everything moves fluidly from his feet, to his hips, to the ball coming out of his hand. You can see it watching through his video clips from the day. His hip does a great job of creating that torque within his body so that he can fire the ball on a rope. I have mentioned it a lot in the recap of this camp, but it was clear who was at a spot in their development where they could attack downfield and do it with velocity. The freshman was one of those kids. Dalton also looked great throwing on the run, still maintaining the ability to throw with velocity. Most importantly, his control over ball placement looked natural for him. He wasn’t fighting the ball. It always went right the spot, or shoulder that the rep was designed for. Big things ahead for Dalton. Get him on your radars early.

Big things are ahead for the 6’1″ 170 lbs freshman QB out of Catholic Memorial. The young passer is well ahead of the curve in his development. He has quick feet in his drop and demonstrated that he can get out on the move and get the ball out without sacrificing form, accuracy, or velocity. I really liked watching him navigate the 1 on 1s. It is clear that when Dalton can stand in the pocket and deliver passes he has the refined tools and mechanics to be surgically accurate to every level of the field. The sky is the limit for Steinke as he has years ahead of him to grow, continue to build up his arm strength, and start to gain varsity experience. This is a need to know 2028.
