Kyle is an interesting prospect. He has already put together multiple productive varsity seasons by the time his junior season ended. The ’27 has the frame of a DE/edge at the next level, but we also see a lot of his highlights take place on the interior this season. That inside-outside versatility is thanks to both his quickness at the snap and the powerful violence he plays with. But when he is on the edge Kyle only needs an inch to beat blocks. The second you give him a sliver he is flying through it into the backfield for a stop. That burst of acceleration is special. It is so surprising watching just how strong he is, standing up OGs and barely ever giving up any ground. If we see him add more to that frame at the next level I can only imagine how much more of a force he could be.

. The 2027 was productive as a sophomore, and now as a junior it is great to see that he has grown and taken that next step in his development and impact. I loved his goal line tackle, standing up the OL, shedding them quickly, and then still being able to deliver a stout hit that didn’t give up an inch of forward progression. Kyle flies off the line with velocity and power that is able to work together to get penetration and the OL off balance. The junior even showed off some wheels to chase down the ball downfield. The 2027 DL has the gifts to mold into an impact player at the next level. Dive into his tape and make sure he is on your radars.

One of the more intriguing prospects on the DL is 2027 Kyle Johnston out of Catholic Memorial HS. Kyle has an outstanding frame to build on and fill out over the coming years. He currently sits at 6’5″ 206 lbs with almost a 6’7″ wingspan and 10.5″ hands. The sophomore was able to work his way onto the varsity field as a sophomore for a team that made it all the way to State. The underclassman is definitely growing into that frame still, but he was able to flash a solid get off at the snap and understands the advantages that length can give him and uses it well. Keep tabs on the CM 2027.
