One of the biggest winners of the day when the 1v1s started was Catholic Memorial IOL Max Erchull. The 6′ 285 lbs soon-to-be senior put on a show in board drills. Max has developed the much needed ability to come out of his stance and play the entire rep low to the ground. That leverage perfectly paired up with a dominant leg drive. A leg drive that won Max board drill battles rep after rep after rep. Max violently went on the attack in those battles and was able to so quickly get DL off balance and pound those big feet until the whistle blew and the DL was 5+ yards off the start line. Max left no doubt that he can hang in the trenches at the next level. Don’t sleep on the talented IOL 2027. Him and his teammates should be set up to play a lot of football this fall as they return several key contributors.

Next up we have the Catholic Memorial center Max Erchull. The junior is a 6′ 260 lbs IOL who does a consistently good job of delivering accurate snaps and then quickly engaging the DL in front of him or in the gap next to him. Max has the power to quickly engage a NG and hold his ground in the pass game or double team DL up to LBs. We see short area burst and quickness to his game too as he is able to reach DL where his OG was pulling away from. Maxon is able to get there before the DL can get through the hole and drive them away from the ball. The ’27 does really well fighting to get his butt to the hole in the run game too to wall off the DL. Don’t sleep on the kid.
