We’re deep into the offseason but before you know it, it’ll be May and spring ball and team camps will be right around the corner. But for now, it’s time to debut a new series that will feature an article every Friday called “First Look Friday” and the whole point of this series is to put the spotlight on athletes that we have never covered. The premise is very simple. We want to cover prospects that we haven’t had a chance to do so. Now, some of these athletes might already be ranked, have been tweeted about, whatever it may be. But none of the players on these articles have ever had a breakdown and that changes here. Keep it locked in to Prep Redzone Oklahoma for more First Look Friday breakdowns!
Metro Christian 2026 athlete Blake Parmley Blake Parmley 5’8″ | ATH Metro Christian | 2026 OK had a very productive sophomore season with the Patriots last fall. Parmley played almost exclusively at slot receiver on offense and cornerback on defense. While the cover skills on defense were solid, we were more impressed with the body of work on the offensive side of the ball. Simply to say, Parmley looks like your prototypical slot receiver where he’s going to have sure hands and make a lot happen after the catch. In fact, Parmley’s sophomore film was full of bubble screens and making something happen immediately. But he isn’t just a quick athlete in space. He showed deceptive strength as he tossed defenders to the ground but we definitely want to see more routes from him moving forward.
Owasso 2027 quarterback Drew Frankenfield Drew Frankenfield 6’1″ | 180 lbs | QB Owasso | 2027 OK is the only quarterback on this week’s breakdown and he might be the greatest unknown on this breakdown as well. Owasso was set at quarterback in 2023 so almost all of Frankenfield’s work last fall was done at the sub-varsity level. But we did check out some of his film from those games and we can see why the coaches at Owasso are excited about his potential moving forward. Based off what we watched, he has a very high ceiling. While it’s unproven right now, there are a lot of tools that will help him. He has a strong arm and can place the ball where it needs to be. His ability to float the ball over a defender’s hands really stood out to us and he’s a good overall athlete who can tuck the ball and run.

Similar to Frankenfield, there isn’t much film to work with when it comes to 2026 athlete Emory Snyder Emory Snyder 6’4″ | 200 lbs | ATH Bixby | 2026 State OK from Bixby. But we’re fortunate enough to have watched Snyder a handful of times at various 7v7 tournaments over the last 18 months. And look, 7v7 tournaments in the offseason aren’t even close to the full picture but it can help give a starting point. And Snyder really impressed us at the C4 tournament in late March. Snyder played cornerback and he also looks like he’s grown a few inches since last spring. Snyder is a rangy and athletic kid that should have his best football ahead of him. And with Bixby losing almost all of their starters on defense, that could open the door for Snyder to have that breakout season this fall with the Spartans.
Highlights
Edmond Santa Fe 2026 defensive athlete Jae’Lin Battle Jae’Lin Battle 6’3″ | 240 lbs | ATH Edmond Santa Fe | 2026 State OK might have our favorite film we watched from this week’s athletes. Battle was an absolute monster for Santa Fe on film and after seeing him in person a few times in March, the film doesn’t do it justice. Battle looks much bigger in person than he does on film and seeing the way he moves on film and combining that with the eye test in person, the sky is the limit for him moving forward. His stock is pointed up in a big way. Battle has a very unique blend of strength and speed. Against smaller offensive linemen or poor unfortunate tight ends, Battle just steamrolled through them. Against bigger offensive tackles, including some elite guys, Battle used speed to blow by them and get to the quarterback.
Similar to Parmley and Battle, Edmond Memorial 2026 running back Nick Booker Nick Booker 6’0″ | RB Edmond Memorial | 2026 State OK enjoyed a breakout sophomore campaign last fall. The first thing that really jumped off the screen when watching Booker on film was how he emerged as a security blanket for his quarterback in the passing game. Whether it was by design or “break in case of emergency,” Booker found a way to have a major impact in the passing game. The strength was also something that really stood out as Booker was rarely brought down in one on one situations by a linebacker or defensive back. He would either bounce off them or lower the shoulder and drag them for a few yards until reinforcements came. We’re fired up to see what Booker can do this fall as a junior.
