DR7’s 7v7 circuit made their annual stop in the Tulsa area over the weekend. We were able to check in on pool play Saturday and bracket play on Sunday. We saw a ton of Oklahoma talent on display and will have several spotlights throughout the next few days on Prep Redzone Oklahoma. In this article, we’re putting the spotlight on four players who really played well on both sides of the ball. When it came down to it, we couldn’t talk about their play on offense without their play on defense.
Douglass 2025 star Jaden Nickens Jaden Nickens 6’4″ | WR Douglass | 2025 State OK helped lead his team to a state championship in basketball last weekend and was back on the football field this weekend. He played for Sooner 7’s Alpha team and immediately made his presence felt on both sides of the ball. First off, offensively, we don’t need to see his abilities on offense to you if you’ve seen him play. He is a terrific wide receiver and he made it look easy at times during pool play on Saturday. But Nickens wasn’t done there. He turned around and played safety on defense and showcased that athleticism throughout the weekend. He was one of the top players at our tournament two weeks ago in Broken Arrow and he was that again this weekend.
We don’t know what or where Union 2025 standout JT Fridrich JT Fridrich 6’1″ | DB Union | 2025 State OK will play at the next level but the kid is a gamer and he’s going to make a college coaching staff look very smart. We’ve watched Fridrich a lot over the last 12 months at these 7v7 tournaments and he continues to look smarter and smarter while he’s on the field. On defense, he always knows where he needs to be and also helps literally everyone else out on that side of the ball. On offense, Fridrich has also become a reliable option in the passing game for 918 Elite’s 18U squad. Like we said at the top, we don’t know what position or what level Fridrich is going to play in college, but based on his on-field IQ alone, he should help someone.
After watching Broken Arrow 2025 standout Kayleb Barnett Kayleb Barnett 5’10” | WR Broken Arrow | 2025 State OK with TheUNIT Platinum on Saturday, we were convinced that we were going to write about him as a defensive back standout. Barnett, who’s mostly been known for making plays as a wide receiver on offense was outstanding at the safety position in multiple games we watched on Saturday. Barnett used his speed to track the ball in the blink of an eye and when he got there, his leaping ability was off the charts as he separated the receiver from the ball. But on Sunday, Barnett came back and made plays at wide receiver. He once again caught our attention with his blazing speed and ability to separate from anybody.
This was our third consecutive weekend seeing Jenks 2026 star KD Jones KD Jones 6’0″ | 170 lbs | ATH Jenks | 2026 State OK after he helped lead his team to the 18U title at the PRZ Oklahoma tourney two weeks ago, then stood out at the Under Armour camp last week. And once again, Jones stood out to us for his abilities on both sides of the ball. At the tournament two weeks ago, Jones was mostly on our radar for his play on the defensive side of the ball. This week, that play was still there and he was a game changer on the offensive side of the ball. Speaking on that specifically, Jones is just flat out electric with the football in his hands. Anyone who watched him in person last fall knows what we’re talking about and that was on display again.
