Week six has come and gone and there were plenty of standout performers in the second week of the WV high school football season. Here are 12 athletes that stood out during week six of the season.

[player_tooltip player_id='1126302' first='Branson' last='Winfrey'] - Tyler Consolidated '25 ATH

No, this isn't a typo. Tyler Consolidated has two Winfrey brothers and older brother Sean, who has made almost every weekly standout this season, had the night off and let little brother Branson have his night in the spotlight. Those Winfrey brothers must have some great athletic genes as Branson didn't skip a beat from big brother's typical great performances. Branson ran for 269 yards and four touchdowns and also added a 70-yard receiving touchdown to bring his total to five on the night. Branson is just a junior and the Silver Knights should be in good hands next season once older brother Sean graduates.

Tyler Barnhouse - Richwood '24 ATH

The Richwood Lumberjacks make their first appearance of the season on our weekly standouts as senior running back Tyler Barnhouse had a performance for the ages as Richwood narrowly loses 24-24 to Tygarts Valley. The 5'8 160 senior had an incredible 316 yards rushing on 37 carries and two touchdowns in a heartbreaking loss. Barnhouse gave every ounce of effort that he had in him and wasn't finished impacting the game there. He also added two PAT conversion runs, completed two passes, had one catch for 37 yards, 2 kick returns for 52 yards, a punt return for 12 yards and added 3 tackles and a pass deflection on defense. Barnhouse totaled an unheard of 428 all-purpose yards in the game.

[player_tooltip player_id='1078417' first='Colson' last='Wichterman'] - Cameron '24 QB

Senior Cameron quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1078417' first='Colson' last='Wichterman'] is typically known for his arm but has quietly put together a great year with his legs. Wichterman now has more rushing yards than passing yards through the first five games of the season. He carried the ball 16 times for 142 yards and four touchdowns in the Dragons' 36-0 shutout over Madonna. The senior signal caller also added 139 yards passing on 7 of 12 completions. In five games, he has passed for 515 yards and rushed for 534 yards with 10 total touchdowns.

[player_tooltip player_id='1104849' first='Chaz' last='Boggs'] - James Monroe '24 ATH

It was the Boggs and Ridgeway show in James Monroe's big win over talented Summers County. Boggs went crazy as he went big in the rushing and passing game. The senior athlete carried the ball five times for 105 yards and two scores but wasn't finished there. Boggs also caught five passes for 129 yards and two more touchdowns. He also added 8 tackles on defense for good measure for an all-around great performance.

[player_tooltip player_id='894275' first='Cooper' last='Ridgeway'] - James Monroe '24 ATH

The James Monroe Mavericks keep churning out wins and big nights from senior running back [player_tooltip player_id='894275' first='Cooper' last='Ridgeway']. Ridgeway carried the ball 27 times for 196 yards and three touchdowns as the Mavericks defeated the Summers County Bobcats by a score of 50-26. Ridegway and the Mavericks are now 4-0 with a 9-game schedule but have an enormous test this week with fellow unbeaten Class A foe Greenbrier West.

[player_tooltip player_id='865476' first='Ethan' last='Rosenau'] - Tucker County '24 QB

Tucker County senior quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='865476' first='Ethan' last='Rosenau'] had arguably his best game of the season thus far as the Mountain Lions defeated Pendleton County 54-8. Rosenau had yet another very efficient night passing as he completed 13 of 15 passes for 176 yards and a whopping six touchdown passes. His 86.7 completion percentage in the game is surprisingly only his fourth-highest percentage of the season. Rosenau is now completing 76% of his passes on the season for 1,067 yards and 22 touchdowns as Tucker County is now 6-0.

[player_tooltip player_id='907169' first='Connor' last='Lambert'] - Wahama '25 RB

A pair of White Falcons had huge nights running the ball in Wahama's 52-21 victory over Wirt County. Junior running back [player_tooltip player_id='907169' first='Connor' last='Lambert'] scored three total touchdowns in the game and gashed the Tigers' defense with his legs. He rushed for 199 yards on 17 carries for three touchdowns and averaged 11.7 yards per carry. Lambert is averaging 11.8 yards per carry on the season and through five games he has 590 yards rushing and 10 touchdowns as the White Falcons are now 5-0.

[player_tooltip player_id='865456' first='Sawyer' last='VanMatre'] - Wahama '24 ATH

Wahama senior quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='865456' first='Sawyer' last='VanMatre'] completed just one pass in their win over Wirt County but it went for 61 yards and a touchdown. VanMatre did most of his damage with his legs as he usually does and had a huge night on the ground. The 6'3 220 athlete carried the ball 20 times for 240 yards and three touchdowns while averaging 12 yards per carry. VanMatre now has 1,196 total yards in five games and has scored 13 total touchdowns.

[player_tooltip player_id='894624' first='Bryson' last='Elia'] - Tug Valley '26 ATH

Tug Valley sophomore do-it-all athlete [player_tooltip player_id='894624' first='Bryson' last='Elia'] has been a regular in our Class A weekly standouts this season and had another huge game in a 35-8 win over Tolsia. Elia ran for an incredible 284 yards and three touchdowns and also caught a pass for 21 yards to bring his total yardage in the game to 305. Elia had touchdown runs of 2, 6, and 75 yards as the Tug Valley Panthers have now won four straight after dropping their first game of the season. Elia has 1,022 all-purpose yards through the first five games of the season and 13 total touchdowns.

[player_tooltip player_id='1096621' first='Jake' last='Pate'] - Greenbrier West '24 WR/RB

Greenbrier West senior receiver/running back [player_tooltip player_id='1096621' first='Jake' last='Pate'] scored three total touchdowns in the Cavaliers' 55-0 shutout of Class AA Shady Spring. Pate makes his first appearance of the season on our weekly standouts and deservingly so. Pate carried the ball just 6 times but they went for 114 yards and two touchdowns including an 87-yard explosion for a touchdown. He also added another touchdown in the passing game catching one pass for an 11-yard touchdown to bring his total to three on the night.

[player_tooltip player_id='940272' first='Damien' last='Dellinger'] - East Hardy '24 QB/ATH

East Hardy senior quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='940272' first='Damien' last='Dellinger'] scored three touchdowns in the Cougars' 52-14 win over Pocahontas County. Dellinger was effective through the air and on the ground in the game. He had his best game passing this season with 222 yards and two touchdowns going 13 of 19 for a 68% completion percentage. Dellinger added another touchdown with his legs on 8 carries for 52 yards.

[player_tooltip player_id='370424' first='Joey' last='Baker'] - Paden City '24 RB

[player_tooltip player_id='370424' first='Joey' last='Baker'] is just having a season that you often only see in video games. The senior Paden City running back had yet another monster game and made our weekly standouts yet again. Baker and the Wildcats had a big 48-26 win over Van behind Baker's rushing attack. He rushed for 269 yards on 18 carries for three touchdowns on an 8.1 yards per carry average. Baker now has 886 yards rushing and 12 touchdowns on the season in just five games.

[player_tooltip player_id='862785' first='Isaac' last='Martin'] - Wheeling Central '26 RB

Sophomore Wheeling Central running back Isaac "Mike" Martin finally had his breakout game of the season that I've been waiting to see in a tough loss to Maret (DC). Martin was unstoppable on the ground as he muscled his way to an 11.1 yards per carry average on 13 attempts. The 6'0 215 2026 prospect rushed for 144 yards and two touchdowns in the contest while adding three catches for 17 yards and five tackles on defense. Martin's ceiling is as high as anyone's in Class A, and although is being overshadowed right now by junior teammate [player_tooltip player_id='907235' first='Braden' last='McWreath'], his time will be coming soon enough.

Week six has come and gone and there were plenty of standout performers in the second week of the WV high school football season. Here are 12 athletes that stood out during week six of the season.
