You won’t find too many athletes that have been as well-developed physically as 2026 Wheeling Central running back Isaac Martin Isaac Martin 6'0" | 250 lbs | EDGE/RB WV in the state of West Virginia. The 6’0 215 rising senior appears to have been sculpted out of clay for how you want your every down running back to look. Martin just wrapped up an AA/A state wrestling championship in the 215-pound weight class and is getting serious D1 looks for that sport on top of his prowess on the football field. As a junior, Martin rushed for 1,000 yards and 17 touchdowns as a bull who’s difficult to bring down at the small school level.

The thunder to McWreath’s lightning is 2026 RB Isaac Martin Isaac Martin 6'0" | 250 lbs | EDGE/RB WV who had a productive sophomore campaign for the Knights. He’s one of the top running back prospects in the 2026 class in our eyes and is as physically impressive of an athlete his age as you’re going to find in West Virginia. Martin just wrapped up an undefeated state-champion wrestling season and is primed for an even bigger junior year on the football field. The 6’0 215 bruiser is a one-cut-and-go style of runner who’s going to fall forward on nearly every carry and will break first and second attempted tackles often. Martin is a very physically strong athlete whose wrestling background helps him on the field and will continue to get faster as he gets older.

Wheeling Central has two great options in the backfield with contrasting styles that they’ll lean on again this season.

Wheeling Central’s Isaac Martin Isaac Martin 6'0" | 250 lbs | EDGE/RB WV is your traditional power running back who produced a quality sophomore season for the Maroon Knights. Martin averaged 6.6 yards per carry on his way to rushing for 750 yards and 10 touchdowns. He’s the thunder to highly ranked 2025 WR/RB Braden McWreath Braden McWreath 6'2" | 190 lbs | WR Wheeling Central Catholic | 2025 State WV ‘s lightning and the two should be a dynamic duo in 2024. Martin is currently having an undefeated wrestling season in the 215-pound weight class and has had great development in the weight room thus far. He’s not going to do anything fancy once he gets the ball and only wants to get downhill to run over you and through you. A highly physical runner who is best between the tackles and can get you those tough extra yards after initial contact. Thankfully I got to see him in person for his best game of the season by far against Shadyside (OH) where he rushed for 221 yards and three scores while averaging 11 yards per carry. Seeing him live confirms what you see on tape and if Martin can find another gear with his speed he’ll have D1 colleges calling.
