Minnesota has historically produced some crazy RBs, including some that are tearing it up at the P4 level today. I wanted to dive into some of the best rushing performances from Minnesota's 3rd-biggest class from Week 5. Meet some 4A RB standouts!

Boyer had perhaps one of the best rushing showings in his class, as he carried the rock 6 times for 120 yards and a TD during a 57-0 routing of St. Cloud Tech. This was Boyer's most successful rushing performance to date, and Becker has rallied after a rough start to win their last two games in a row. He's got some tape from his senior campaign, and on it Boyer does an excellent job of getting north as soon as possible, touting solid contact balance and speed in the process. He's a high-level basketball player who's having a ton of success in both sports. Keep an eye out for Boyer in the second half of the season.

Horvat has been a stud so far this season, and the Cloquet senior capped off a big 24-16 win over Mora with 16 carries for 124 yards, one of his most productive showings this fall. He's averaging just shy of 7 yards per carry through 5 games and is just shy of 500 rushing yards so far. He puts out a ton of tape every week, and last Friday he did a great job of showcasing how well-rounded a player he is. He has some great defensive film, and I love the physicality he brings to the field. He does a good job of fighting through the wash and is liable to break tackles at any time. This Northern MN senior needs more college looks!

One of the most promising 2029 prospects in the state, Spear has been balling out during his sophomore season on varsity. Minneapolis Southwest is 4-1, and that is in no small part due to Spear. Last Friday he took 18 carries for 130 yards, finding the end zone twice in the process. It's his 3rd 100+ yard game of the year, and his second game with 2 TDs. After watching his tape, I'd say the strongest facet of his game as a ball carrier is his vision. He does a great job of anticipating run lanes, reading his blockers, and finding the edges to create chunk plays downfield. This kind of play, out of a sophomore in particular, is very impressive, and I'm excited to see what he evolves into long-term.

Meier is one of the most underappreciated backs in the state. Standing at 6'2" and weighing in just shy of 200 lbs, his ceiling as an athlete appears to be quite high. He's been a consistent force in Marshall's success this season, and last week in a 21-7 win over Delano, he rushed for 78 yards and 2 TDs on only 12 carries. He also found the end zone once, catching a ball at the 1-yard line. He doesn't have any junior tape out yet, but be on the lookout for him potentially dropping some this offseason. He's averaging almost 6 yards per carry this year, and should be a 2028 back to keep an eye on.

One of three athletes from Providence Academy who found their way onto this list today, Boro is not just a rushing threat. He did record a season-high 12 carries for a season-high 100 yards on the ground in a 44-6 beating of DeLaSalle, but he also caught 3 balls for 38 yards through the air. He has very minimal senior tape out so far, but what he does have shows off some solid speed and quickness. He also remains the team's punter and kicker, and he is 5/5 on field goals this season. Watch out for this basketball standout throughout the fall.

A thick RB/LB who has taken a lion's share of carries for Providence Academy this season, Hanssen took 11 carries for 55 yards with 2 end-zone appearances last Friday night. He's averaging a TD per game right now, and just over 5 yards per carry. He has very limited tape from his senior campaign, but what he has shows he is a more-than-capable power back who can bulldoze through defenders. Hanssen is an intriguing prospect who I'd like to see more from.

The final Providence Academy athlete to find their way onto this list, Hunter finally had a breakout game last week against DeLaSalle. Hunter took 6 carries for 54 yards, with his first 2 TDs of the season tacked on for good measure. He's only had 11 carries this season, but with a performance like the one he had in Week 5, I wouldn't be surprised if his workload starts to increase. He doesn't have any tape out yet, but Hunter should be another metro athlete to look out for this season.

An out-state sprinter and football player, Foust was instrumental in his team's 42-0 win over Little Falls last week. Foust took 11 carries for 109 yards with two trips to the end zone to boot. He also snagged a pick-6 on defense, as well as 2 tackles. In his 3 games with recorded stats, he's amassed 300 yards and 8 TDs, which means it's very possible that his total numbers are even higher. I'm excited to see what becomes of Foust's senior campaign.
