Week 4 is almost in the books and amidst plenty ofweather delays, there were some fantastic games. I'm back, as always, with my thoughts on the results and performances. This isn't a film study or deep dive; instead, I'm giving my raw thoughts and instant reaction to the night's games.

Week 4 Instant Analysis

Important Thursday Finishes

We're at the point of the year where we're starting to gain plenty of good information on teams. Especially in the Charlotte area, Week 4's Thursday night slate provided plenty of context to the rest of the season.

Ardrey Kell's passing attack continues to impress, as [player_tooltip player_id='2134507' first='Khylieb' last='Rodriguez'] and company put away South Meck with a strong second half.

Ballantyne Ridge got into the win column with a huge performance from sophomore back [player_tooltip player_id='2345858' first='Bryan' last='Inneh']. Inneh ran for six touchdowns in a win to continue his fast start to the year.

Elsewhere, Charlotte Latin and Weddington picked up big wins. [player_tooltip player_id='915835' first='Jared' last='Street'] threw a couple of touchdown passes, one to [player_tooltip player_id='2005357' first='Austin' last='Frazier'] on what might be the catch of the year.

Chambers overcame a great night from the Palisades passing attack, led by [player_tooltip player_id='525514' first='Cole' last='Hough'] and pass catchers [player_tooltip player_id='1676793' first='Riley' last='Hicks'], [player_tooltip player_id='718315' first='Hudson' last='Nolden'], and [player_tooltip player_id='378949' first='Nicholas' last='Rankin'] to win 24-20. I came away impressed with the Pumas, but Chambers continues to find ways to win. The Cougars have found something in the running game with quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1321007' first='Jamouri' last='Nichols'] and running back Matt Taylor.

Finally, in perhaps the most shocking result of the night, Myers Park won a second straight game over a quality opponent, this time downing Mallard Creek, No. 3 in my 8A Power Rankings. Safety Calvin Daniels had a game-winning pick to complete Myers Park's fourth-quarter comeback.

There were several other huge games that I'll get to recapping later this week.

Alamance County Comes Alive

Five Alamance County schools were in action. Four of the five scored at least 45 points, with Williams winning 28-25.

The highlight of the night was a predictable shootout between undefeated Southeast Alamance and Southern Alamance. The Stallions scored the winning touchdown with just under three minutes left in a 55-52 classic.

Southeast Alamance keyed on [player_tooltip player_id='2144167' first='Sincere' last='Thompson'], but he still had a huge game, catching his first touchdown reception of the season from [player_tooltip player_id='2263072' first='Tustin' last='Johnson']. The senior quarterback began to take more of the ball as a runner as the game progressed.

Near the end, [player_tooltip player_id='668611' first='Drew' last='Easter'] and the Southeast Alamance defense got a few key stops to keep Southern Alamance out, while quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='2112034' first='Tyler' last='Jackson'] had a career game with seven total touchdowns (four passing, two rushing, one receiving). [player_tooltip player_id='2145139' first='Joseph' last='Gibbs'] caught two of those in another 100-yard receiving game, his third of the year.

Elsewhere, Eastern Alamance's rushing attack overwhelmed Person. Samuel Raphael scored three times, once on a kick return. That was one of three non-offensive touchdowns for the Eagles, as [player_tooltip player_id='2175503' first='Justice' last='Daye'] returned not one, but two fumbles for touchdowns.

Cummings got going, led by quarterback Hudson Pressley, in a 48-12 win over Bartlett Yancey.

Hunt-South Garner's Wild Ending

The reason this piece is later than normal is that I spent most of my evening at Hunt-South Garner. After a nearly two-hour weather delay, Hunt and South Garner resumed a back-and-forth battle.

I'll have plenty from this game later this week, but the battle in the trenches was fascinating, with Hunt defensive end [player_tooltip player_id='2113127' first='Nicholas' last='Bynum'] making a few big plays. South Garner defensive backs [player_tooltip player_id='2158963' first='Noah' last='Taylor'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1580801' first='Joseph' last='Bailey'] had big games, with Taylor's potential second interception that would have ended it getting wiped off the board via defensive penalty.

Ultimately, [player_tooltip player_id='1953755' first='Mez' last='Harris'] hit Carlos McCray on a perfectly thrown slant route on fourth-and-five with less than 30 seconds left. It was the second converted fourth down on the game-winning drive as Hunt escaped 34-33 on the road.

Obviously, I can't hit everything in this one piece, but what did I miss? Who do I need to write about this week? Let me know on Twitter (@whelms21).
