Perhaps the most obvious inclusion on this list, Harris will be inside the Top 100 when we update rankings. A true athlete, I think he could play quarterback for a Division II or FCS school, but his straight-line speed, overall football instincts, and lateral agility suggest he could thrive at the FBS level as a receiver or defensive back. I’m interested to see if FBS schools step up to offer him, or if he’s going to be an FCS steal.

Harris exploded in week two, rushing for 179 yards and 3 touchdowns, cruising to a 35-32 win. He also threw for 165 yards and two more touchdowns, accounting for 344 yards and 5 touchdowns for the Warriors. Harris is a legitimate prospect for Hunt, and could carry them on a deep playoff run in 2026.

Harris initially transferred out of Hunt to become a multifaceted athlete elsewhere, but returned later in the offseason. I’m selfishly excited that one of the top dual-threat quarterbacks in the state will continue to play the position in 2026. Harris can fly (4.45 verified speed), and he’s equally as explosive. He’s incredibly strong and has a strong case for being the most athletic player in the state.

Harris, who led Hunt High School to the state championship game last season, carried that momentum into the offseason and showcased why he is regarded as one of the state’s top signal-callers. Displaying impressive arm strength, accuracy, decision-making, and leadership, Harris consistently separated himself from a talented quarterback group during camp competition. His ability to make plays from the pocket while also extending drives with his athleticism made him a difficult matchup for defenders all day. Harris will look to build on his breakout campaign after transferring to Millbrook High School in Raleigh, the reigning state runner-up, where expectations will be high as he prepares for the upcoming season.

As good as Harris was last season, it’s tight at the top of this county ranking. Still, Hunt’s star quarterback reigns supreme, thanks largely to his legs. Harris ran for over 1,300 yards last year while leading Hunt to the 5A State Championship. The Warriors get a ton back, none bigger than Harris, who will look to continue to grow as a passer, to go with his dynamic athleticism.

Mez, you can definitely put in the dual-threat category of quarterbacks for sure! In leading his team to the 5A State Championship Game, Mez threw for 1435 yards and 8 touchdowns, while adding 1374 rushing yards and 18 touchdowns on the ground, some really impressive production for sure. As a thrower, Mez has good accuracy down the field on deep throws and excels more throwing against man coverage on his film. As a runner, Mez is definitely dynamic, showing the ability to take runs off of the zone read game the distance with explosive speed and agility in the open field. His position on the next level might not be quarterback because of that explosive ability, but he’s a playmaker at the end of the day.

Harris is one of the most athletic quarterbacks in the state, and defenses in the playoffs had no answers for his legs. He led all non-triple option quarterbacks in the state in rushing, and flashed accuracy and arm strength as a passer. That’s an area of his game he’s grown in over the last year, and we like his upside.
