From the minute I heard Taylor was moving to South Garner, I thought it’d be a great fit. When I saw him in person in that scheme, his college fit became obvious. He has the length and anticipation to play a hybrid safety-linebacker role, thriving in pass coverage. The move to the 7A level (and there are plenty of TOP teams on the schedule) could have either exposed a lack of speed or shown that he’s fast enough to thrive against elite competition. Two interceptions and eight pass deflections have proven it’s the latter.

I’ll be completely honest: Taylor wasn’t on my radar before this series, but that’s why we deep dive. Taylor has college size and speed, and the high school production to back it up. His ball skills aren’t just evident from the 11 career interceptions, but how he got those. Some of them were catches that would make wide receivers jealous. Don’t be surprised if he rockets up our rankings board.
