With PRZAL rankings week here, an observation I made while diving into the class was how deep the TE group is. If you are a D1 program looking for a TE prospect, flock to Alabama this cycle, because there are names to go around. Here is a dive into the prospects shaping this position group.

It's been well-documented at this point, but Salster's meteroic rise this offseason has been a main storyline in Alabama. He settled into his projection as a TE and picked up P4 buzz, eventually leading to his Virginia Tech commitment. Salster has played all over the field during his HS career and shown the ability to act as a playmaker both with and without the ball. At his size and speed, it is hard to find a better combination of traits, which he pairs with the upside that comes with not specializing at a position. Spoiler alert: Salster will debut as our new No. 1 at TE in the 2027 class.

Ehmen is probably the most prototype TE projection in this class. He is listed at 6'6 240, and spends most of his time lined up in-line or at H. From that spot, he has the athleticism to carry routes vertically and roll once he gets the ball. He is well-developed as a blocker who is both willing and able to seek out contact and act as a lead blocker. That area of his game will only improve as he adds weight, which he has plenty of room to do so. He might need a little seasoning, but it's hard to imagine Ehmem having a floor lower than contributor at the next level.

Mabrey was another spring riser this offseason and recently announced his commitment to Troy. He is listed at 6'6 205 with plenty of room to add on weight. He is a mismatch, consistently proving he can carry routes vertically and win above the rim. He has better receiving upside than most TEs at 6'6, which is where the intrigue will be set here.

McIntyre is a shorter, stout, strong player with some of the best upside as a playmaker in this class. He is a strong enough player to put his hand in the ground and move people as a blocker, but he does most of his damage in space with the ball in his hands. He can roll downhill and flashes excellent contact balance. He is a truck of a human when he gets rolling, and that can project with some time to adjust to the college game. Jax State is getting a unique, but capable player in McIntyre.

[player_tooltip player_id='2223287' first='Theron' last='Miles'] is one of two South Alabama TE commits in the 2027 class. Miles has really impressive initial quickness and just general athleticism for his size. He is quick out of his stance and to occupy space, gifting him the ability to contribute as a receiver at each level of the field. If he gets the ball in the flats with room to run, he can keep the offense ahead of the chains and on schedule. He is certainly capable as a blocker, showing he can quickly reach second-level defenders, and it helps that he has plenty of space to bulk up.

[player_tooltip player_id='2268033' first='Sam' last='Allen Hannah'] is perhaps the most well-developed player on this list as a blocker. He is a strong player who already packs 235 pounds onto his frame. He strikes defenders violently and proves he can consistently displace defenders, better than anyone else on this list. He is certainly a capable receiver, but his money will be made as a blocker, and he is a perfect complement to [player_tooltip player_id='2223287' first='Theron' last='Miles'].

Stephens holds D1 offers but is still on the board as we roll into his senior season. He is reliable and well-rounded, making him perhaps the cleanest projection in this class, because you know exactly what you are getting. He is an advanced blocker who is both violent and also fundamentally sound. He is a decent athlete, which opens up some things as a pass catcher, but it's his focus, hands, and body control that stick out the most to me. Stephens has a high floor and will surely get a crack at the D1 level.

Jordan had a splashy junior season, which led to some recruiting buzz in the offseason. Jordan will project as more of a mismatch receiving threat, as he proved time and time again as a junior that he can climb the ladder and win over the top.
Jones isn't committed anywhere yet, but make no mistake, he is an FBS-caliber TE prospect. He is listed around 6'4 215, but actually looks even bigger than that. He spends most of his time split out wide, where he eats cushion and forces DBs to hang on at the top of routes. He is tough to tie up, understands space, and has the hands to execute on the ball. Jones will be a solid box-out option over the middle of the field, offering the QB an easy but reliable option.

Friendly looks and moves more like a receiver at this point, but when factoring in how I assume he is going to grow, he has a future as a TE. He is a towering basketball athlete with a truly massive catch radius. He is big and has elite reach, but I love how he attacks the ball in the air. He is raw, but is still able to work the entire field as a route runner and can even make plays in YAC settings. Friendly is probably going to be more of a "big receiver" in any scenario where he reaches the next level.

Powers can play each TE position, and regardless of where he lines up, his best weapon is his playmaking ability. He would be my pick to win a footrace out of this bunch, but he is also explosive and can maintain his speed through routes and when changing direction.
