Stephens is one of the more reliable blocking tight ends in the state. He plays with urgency and physicality, often functioning as an extra lineman thanks to strong fundamentals, consistent pad level, and leg drive at the point of attack. His effort shows up particularly well in the screen game and on perimeter runs, where he actively seeks second-level work.

While blocking is his calling card, Stephens isn’t a zero in the passing game. He runs routes with smooth, long strides, selling blocks before releasing into space. Despite limited usage as a receiver, he showed efficiency and reliability when targeted—suggesting more upside in the pass game as his role expands.
