Summer Spotlight: Southwest Ohio Studs

There aren't many camps and not many games to attend right now, but that doesn't mean we at Prep Red Zone are sitting on our hands. On the contrary, we are hard at work. All throughout the summer, we'll be taking a look at some top returning starters and young prospects who will make a big impact as the season rolls around this fall, spotlighting several prospects. Here is our summer scouting notebook spotlighting four prospects in southwestern Ohio who have a chance to have dominant seasons this fall.    [player_tooltip player_id='2249877' first='Bentley' last='Heckman'] is a receiver for Tippecanoe High School. Heckman is a solid wideout who can make initial defenders miss after the catch. He is also very effective on kick returns, shifty and with very good change-of-direction. Heckman is likely an inside receiver at the next level, but he has time to improve, grow and get better over the next two seasons.     [player_tooltip player_id='2254322' first='Zyohn' last='Gillespie'] is a starting Class of 2027 cornerback and receiver for Purcell Marian. Giled to be a lespie has great change-of-direction with the ball in his hands. He can take handoffs to the house, and has enough top-end speed and vision to be a home-run threat. Gillespie also flashes solid skills as a cornerback. His college fit is likely on offense.     [player_tooltip player_id='2107086' first='Cameron' last='Wells'] is a starting tight end for Lakota East. Based on TE film view at camp, has good burst and take-off at the line of scrimmage. Good use-of-hands with great downfield release and good first-step quickness. Effective at using his hands to create separation. Probably a more natural fit at linebacker/long snapper.     [player_tooltip player_id='2099353' first='Jackson' last='Meerdink'] is a starting tight end for Archbishop Moeller. Given his 6-foot-5, 225-pound frame, Meerdink has excellent upside. He is solid after-the-catch, is a good puller in the run game and runs his feet on contact as a blocker. Tough and physical, Meerdink has excellent potential; keep an eye on him during college camp season.
