Highest Impact Offensive Transfers in Class AAAA This Season

Class AAAA saw several notable offensive transfers this offseason, with players changing programs for a variety of reasons while creating new opportunities for themselves and their new teams. Some are expected to step in as immediate stars, while others fill critical needs that could help push a contender over the top. In this series, we're breaking down the offensive transfers who have the best chance to make an immediate impact during the 2026 season and could play a major role in shaping the Class AAAA playoff race.    Riverside -> George Washington   The addition of 2027 ATH [player_tooltip player_id='1155320' first='Tavion' last='Woods'] to the George Washington program may end up being the most important offensive transfer in Class AAAA this offseason. After transferring from Riverside, Woods steps into a quarterback position that needed an answer and immediately gives the Patriots a dynamic playmaker with the ball in his hands. While his long-term future projects at linebacker at the college level, his athleticism at quarterback makes him an intriguing option to lead George Washington's offense. His arrival creates the potential for one of the state's most dangerous rushing attacks alongside sophomore standout Jaden Black, especially in the read-option game, where Woods is at his best. He doesn't need to throw for 300 yards every week, but if he consistently keeps defenses honest through the air, the Patriots' offensive ceiling rises. Combined with an impressive group of fellow transfers and returning talent, Woods' arrival could be the piece that turns George Washington into a legitimate Class AAAA contender.     Hedgesville -> Spring Mills   Few transfers address a bigger need than 2027 Spring Mills QB [player_tooltip player_id='861657' first='Chaz' last='Milburn']. After transferring from Hedgesville, Milburn gives the Cardinals a proven answer at quarterback and eliminates one of their biggest question marks entering the season. A former #1 quarterback in the class, he flashed plenty of ability while playing on a struggling team, but now finds himself in a more stable situation with a stronger supporting cast around him. Milburn has always possessed the physical tools to succeed as a pocket passer, and better protection, along with a talented group of playmakers, should allow him to operate more efficiently than in previous seasons. If everything comes together, this has the potential to be the breakout year many expected earlier in his career. His arrival not only raises Spring Mills' offensive ceiling but also gives the Cardinals confidence that they have the right player leading the offense in what could be a standout final season for Milburn.     Northwest (OH) -> Cabell Midland   Cabell Midland was already a team I expected to take a step forward this season, but the return of 2029 ATH [player_tooltip player_id='1225956' first='Carson' last='Christian'] only strengthens that outlook. After moving back to West Virginia and rejoining the Knights for family reasons, Christian brings one of the state's most gifted young athletes back into the fold. His combination of size, speed, and overall athleticism gives Cabell Midland a difference-maker in an offense built around the running game. Christian can change how opponents prepare each week and is an explosive play waiting to happen. With legitimate D1 traits and a scheme that will feed him the ball, he has all the ingredients for a huge junior season while significantly raising the Knights' ceiling in Class AAAA.     Fairmont Senior -> Morgantown   Defending a state championship is never easy, but Morgantown landed one of the offseason's biggest additions in 2027 ATH [player_tooltip player_id='1326535' first='Rudy' last='Carrillo']. After transferring from Fairmont Senior, Carrillo gives the Mohigans a proven playmaker with the versatility to contribute at virtually any skill position, though he projects to make his biggest impact at receiver and defensive back. A Top 30 prospect in the 2027 class, Carrillo brings production, athleticism, and experience to a roster that had key graduation losses in both the passing game and secondary. His arrival helps fill those voids while adding another explosive weapon for the offense. As Morgantown looks to defend its Class AAAA title, Carrillo has the potential to be one of the most important pieces in that pursuit.     Spring Mills -> Martinsburg   Martinsburg didn't have many glaring needs entering the offseason, but adding 2027 WR [player_tooltip player_id='1157627' first='Zane' last='Wipf'] made one of the state's top teams even more dangerous. After transferring from Spring Mills, Wipf brings two seasons of proven production and gives the Bulldogs an experienced, dependable target in the passing game. He's a polished, well-rounded receiver who consistently moves the chains and provides the type of security blanket every quarterback values. His addition strengthens an already talented offense and gives Martinsburg another reliable playmaker in their passing game. Coming off a heartbreaking state championship loss, the Bulldogs look built for another deep postseason run, and Wipf could be one of the bigger reasons they find themselves back in title contention.     Jefferson -> Martinsburg   Martinsburg added another major piece this offseason with the transfer of 2027 OL [player_tooltip player_id='894658' first='Noah' last='Hockman'] from Jefferson. The Bulldogs have long been known for developing quality offensive linemen, but Hockman brings the type of size and physical presence that immediately upgrades the unit at 6'4 275. He's steadily improved throughout his high school career and has started to draw D2 attention as a result of that development. Hockman projects as an immediate starter and gives Martinsburg another experienced blocker to anchor the trenches. For a team looking to return to the top of Class AAAA, adding a proven lineman of his caliber could have just as much impact as any skill position transfer this offseason.     Hedgesville -> Spring Mills   2027 Spring Mills RB [player_tooltip player_id='1810530' first='Chris' last='Williams'] could end up being one of the most underrated transfer additions in Class AAAA this offseason. After producing during a difficult season at Hedgesville, Williams arrives at Spring Mills with a clear opportunity to step into the Cardinals' starting running back role. He has quietly put together a productive career and now joins a team where he'll have the chance to showcase his ability in a much different situation. Williams gives Spring Mills another dependable weapon on offense and helps fill an important vacancy in the backfield. If he puts together the senior season he's capable of, don't be surprised if he goes from an under-the-radar prospect to one of the more talked-about running backs in the state by year's end.     Hedgesville -> Martinsburg   Martinsburg continues to strengthen its offensive line with the addition of 2028 OL [player_tooltip player_id='1624400' first='Brody' last='Faircloth'] from Hedgesville. Faircloth gives the Bulldogs another versatile piece up front, capable of starting at either center or guard, providing valuable flexibility along the interior. As a coach's son, he brings a strong understanding of the game, along with the physical traits needed to compete at a high level. Just as important, Faircloth still has two seasons of eligibility remaining, making him a long-term addition that provides a lot of value. Now developing in the state's premier program, he has an excellent opportunity to take significant strides in his development while becoming a key part of Martinsburg's future success.     Hedgesville -> Martinsburg   Martinsburg may have landed one of the biggest projection pieces with the addition of 2028 ATH [player_tooltip player_id='1700916' first='Aubree' last='Burrell'] from Hedgesville. While there isn't any game film available to evaluate yet, Burrell has generated plenty of positive buzz. It's easy to understand why, given his impressive 6'5 210 frame. He has the size and athletic profile to develop at several different positions, giving the Bulldogs flexibility as they determine where he fits best. Now in one of the state's top developmental programs, Burrell has an excellent opportunity to maximize his potential over the next two seasons. He's a high-upside addition whose impact could become much greater once he begins putting film on display.     Doddridge County -> Morgantown   2028 Morgantown RB/ATH Lyric Blake brings proven production to the defending Class AAAA state champions after transferring from Doddridge County. Blake enjoyed a productive two-year run at his previous stop and now faces the challenge of making the jump from Class AA to one of the state's top programs. That transition will be one of the more interesting storylines to follow this season, as he'll have the opportunity to show how his game translates against a higher level of competition. While much of his success came at running back, Morgantown may look to utilize his athleticism more at receiver, adding another dimension to the offense. However he's deployed, Blake gives the Mohigans another experienced playmaker and an intriguing addition as they look to defend their state championship.
