Spring Valley posted another strong season in 2025, finishing 9-4 and advancing to the Class AAA semifinals behind a large and talented senior class. That experienced group set the tone on both sides of the football and played a major role in the Timberwolves' deep postseason run. While the season was another success for the program, replacing that amount of production won't be easy this season. With many key contributors now graduated, Spring Valley enters 2026 facing more questions than answers as the next wave of players looks to keep the Timberwolves among the state's top AAA programs.

2026 OUTLOOK

There are plenty of unknowns surrounding Spring Valley entering 2026, but that's what makes the Timberwolves one of the more intriguing teams to follow this fall. Many of last year's depth pieces will now be counted on to step into larger varsity roles after developing as backups and at the JV level, and expect new names to emerge who aren't on the radar today. While replacing an accomplished senior class is never easy, Spring Valley has built a reputation as one of the state's most consistent programs, routinely developing players and fielding competitive teams. There may be more questions than answers heading into Week 1, but don't be surprised if the Timberwolves find themselves in the playoff conversation by the end of the season.

The next leader of Spring Valley's trenches could be 2027 DL/OL Judson Rich. After earning valuable experience as a junior, Rich enters his senior season with the size, strength, and versatility to make an impact on both sides of the football as their lone returning starter on the offensive line. He has the 6'4 260 frame to play multiple positions, but his combination of length and physicality makes him intriguing as a DL prospect. With many key contributors to replace up front, he'll be counted on to anchor the line while continuing to elevate his recruiting stock.

Experience at QB is one of the biggest advantages Spring Valley has with 2027 ATH Caiden Lovejoy returning for the 2026 season. After being thrust into the starting quarterback role earlier than expected last year, Lovejoy settled in and guided Spring Valley's Wing-T offense with confidence. While the Timberwolves don't rely heavily on the passing game, he was efficient when given opportunities, protecting the football while contributing as both a passer and runner. His athleticism gives him the versatility to impact the game in several ways beyond quarterback if needed, making him one of Spring Valley's most valuable returning players. With a full season of varsity experience and an entire offseason to build on it, Lovejoy is in position to take another step as the leader of the Timberwolves' offense.

After waiting for his varsity opportunity for three years, 2027 DL Isaac Maynard is expected to make his debut for the Timberwolves this fall. Maynard spent the past few seasons developing behind many talented players, and that experience should prepare him well for the increased expectations as a senior. His length and size give him intriguing upside along the defensive line as he has flashed ability at the JV level. As Spring Valley looks to replace several key contributors up front, Maynard has the chance to establish himself as one of the next impact defenders in the program.

One of the more intriguing new players to watch this season for Spring Valley is 2027 WR/DB Landen Spencer. Much of his development has come at the JV level, where he showcased the athleticism and versatility to play multiple positions while leading the JV offense at quarterback. Now with several varsity openings available, Spencer has an opportunity to carve out an important role for the Timberwolves on Friday nights. He can contribute at wide receiver, cornerback, or even quarterback if needed, giving the coaching staff plenty of flexibility. As his opportunities increase this year, don't be surprised if Spencer develops into one of Spring Valley's breakout seniors.

2027 RB/LB Peyton Bailey looks poised to take advantage of a long-awaited opportunity this fall. After spending the past few seasons developing on JV, Bailey enters his senior year with a chance to emerge as one of Spring Valley's top offensive weapons. He is one of the few returning backs with any varsity experience, even if those opportunities were limited in 2025, giving him a head start in a backfield replacing several key contributors. Bailey has consistently flashed the athleticism and upside to handle a larger workload, and his physical running style fits well in Spring Valley's Wing-T attack, where multiple backs will share carries. If he takes advantage of this opportunity, Bailey has all the tools to become the next productive running back in a program that has built a strong tradition at the position.

The Timberwolves will also look for 2027 DL Cyrus Roberts to help fill the void left by graduation along the defensive front. Roberts is expected to earn meaningful varsity snaps this season and has the versatility to line up both inside and on the end. He has steadily developed behind an experienced group and now steps into a role where Spring Valley will need him to make an impact on varsity. Whether he earns the starting job or rotates into the lineup, Roberts can emerge as an important contributor for a front that will feature new faces.
