In a tough 2-8 season, Milburn dealt with constant pressure and collapsing pockets, but he learned how to navigate it without losing control. Milburn moves well within tight spaces, slipping pressure and resetting while keeping his eyes downfield. That experience has turned into a strength for him, and Milburn now looks comfortable working through chaos and extending plays when things break down.

He’s had his bright moments during this difficult stretch and is learning how to keep plays alive and escape the pocket behind a young offensive line. That’s tough right now, but he’ll benefit in the long term as a pocket passer-type quarterback. Milburn is throwing well on the run and is developing well in that area this season. When he has time to go through his reads, you can see the high-level potential we’ve seen from him since before his freshman year.

He tossed three touchdown passes in the comeback attempt and had a great second half as their offense found some success. On top of some big throws during the game, Milburn showed excellent pocket presence at times with a young offensive line in front of him, which was just as impressive to see.

He’s been our #1-ranked 2027 quarterback since he was a freshman, but a few other passers in this class are vying for that top spot. If he can elevate his teammates around him and further show the potential we saw in him as a young player, Milburn should start to see serious college interest heading into his senior year after this season.

Milburn is the top-ranked WV quarterback in the 2027 class. He splits time at the quarterback position. I caught a game of Milburn and had some filmed reps to take a look at. He had some quality throws over the middle of the field and some nice throws down the field, although his WRs dropped a couple.

6’2, 188 pounds. Currently ranked as the top quarterback prospect among all West Virginian 2027 passers. Worth mentioning that Milburn is also among the top 20 overall players in his class. High praise from our West Virginia writers. 3.8 GPA.

Milburn is a two-year varsity starter over at Hedgesville HS. Will likely man the 15U GC Motion team. I’m unsure if I’ll be able to get eyes on him, as I’ll be focused entirely on 18U. No matter the case, I’ll be checking in on how Milburn performs. Great build, a ton of hype around this young man, would love to write positive reports about him post-event.

That’s to be expected as the last time we saw the sophomore he was wowing coaches prior to his freshman season. He looks like a different kid physically now and that’s going to translate to more success on the field in time. Milburn does a nice job anticipating throws and hitting his receivers on time and in stride. He was another quarterback at camp who could stretch the field vertically as well. Milburn took our early #1 QB ranking during the summer and still has that ceiling if he continues to develop over the next two years.

Milburn totaled 237 yards passing in the 28-21 win and was happy to have his top target back this week in 2025 WR Gavin Young Gavin Young 5'9" | 145 lbs | WR Hedgesville | 2025 State WV . He’s noticeably a year bigger and stronger since the flashes we saw from him as a freshman and is steadily progressing. Milburn looked poised on film with good pocket movement and delivered a pair of impressive corner route throws on film. He also trusted his receivers to go up and make a play on several of his passes which was good to see for a young QB. The Hedgesville schedule is about to become much tougher in the coming weeks and we’ll be following to see if he can elevate his game against stiffer competition as the next step in his early career.

We said 2027 Hedgesville QB Chaz Milburn Chaz Milburn 6'2" | 190 lbs | QB Spring Mills | 2027 State WV was the early leader in this quarterback class back in the winter and kept our word with the debut #1 quarterback ranking at this early stage. Now up to 6’2 180, Milburn has progressed nicely in that regard since seeing him in person before his freshman year at a camp where he was an MVP performer before ever taking a snap at the high school level. Unfortunately, he was injured most of last season which makes film a bit limited, but we’re anticipating a big bounce-back season as a sophomore this season. Milburn has the arm talent and natural ability to keep the #1 spot over the next three years but will have some tough competition to stay at the top.

With a healthy season in 2024, Milburn should be able to show the state why we think so highly of him.
