It's turned out that way, however. The previous installments have been linked above.   It'd been a minute since I checked on the recruitments of prospects in Iowa's 2027 Class. It was time to update their processes.   Here's a closer look at five talented guys still searching for college homes:   [player_tooltip player_id='1204524' first='Josh' last='Ringler'], ATH, Grinnell   Announced offers: Grand View, Sioux Falls.   The Situation: Ringler has been on the radar of colleges for a while. He was ultra productive as a Grinnell junior in 2025, earning all-state recognition. The output included 75.0 tackles and more than 1,000 rushing yards.   Miami (OH) played host to Ringler for a game during the 2024 season. The recruitment has been steady since then.   Indiana, Iowa State, Kansas State and others invited him to camps last summer. Ringler (6-0, 210) visited Drake for a game in November and again in February. The Bulldogs, Northern Iowa, South Dakota and Northwest Missouri State visited him in Grinnell during late January. In late March, Grand View became the first school to offer. He visited Dordt and Northwest Missouri State this spring.   Dordt visited him at school this month. Sioux Falls offered him a scholarship last week.   A standout on the track, Ringler is a speedy athlete that could help at multiple positions and contribute on special teams at the next level. Some coaches might like him on <a href="https://www.hudl.com/video/3/19542144/690cd0d1870e2f0be6414f82" id="https://www.hudl.com/video/3/19542144/690cd0d1870e2f0be6414f82">DEFENSE</a>, while others might envision him on <a href="https://www.hudl.com/video/3/19542144/6908e3870d7ee19be47ee6c2" id="https://www.hudl.com/video/3/19542144/6908e3870d7ee19be47ee6c2">OFFENSE</a>.   [player_tooltip player_id='1616430' first='Cash' last='McIntire'], ATH, Humboldt   Announced offers: Dordt.   The Situation: A first-team all-district running back as a junior in 2025, McIntire could help plenty of college programs as a well-rounded player at the position. We see skills in running and catching the football during his <a href="https://www.hudl.com/video/3/19759508/69440eb2565b3a921a9a62ff" id="https://www.hudl.com/video/3/19759508/69440eb2565b3a921a9a62ff">junior highlight video</a>. It's the athleticism, which he also flashes in other sports, that keeps open the door to the possibility of lining up at other spots in the future. He'd be a special teams' asset, too.   McIntire (6-0, 180) put himself on the map last summer when he camped with Iowa, Iowa State, Nebraska, North Dakota State, South Dakota State and Drake. He visited North Dakota State and North Dakota for games last season. He visited junior days at those two schools during the winter. Dordt offered on February, and he visited South Dakota State in March.   Another round on the summer camp circuit could aid McIntire in sparking interest. He's also poised for a big senior season, which would attract more attention.   <a href="https://prepredzone.com/player/easton-dejong/">[player_tooltip player_id='2050083' first='Easton' last='DeJong']</a>, ATH, West Lyon   Announced offers: Northwestern College.   The Situation: College football programs are woefully behind when it comes to recruiting DeJong. Maybe they think he's going to play a different sport on the next level? He's impactful in basketball and baseball. The upside on the gridiron is significant, however.   I watched DeJong quarterback West Lyon to the state championship last November. It was a projectable frame capable of developing at multiple positions in college. I definitely thought it would lead to more interest, especially when considering his <a href="https://www.hudl.com/video/3/17075256/693aee9ad531264e950c9818" id="https://www.hudl.com/video/3/17075256/693aee9ad531264e950c9818">junior highlight video</a>.   Northwestern College offered him on Feb. 25. Other than that, the first-team all-stater's recruitment has been far too quite.   [player_tooltip player_id='1818833' first='Qhjuan' last='Coley'], ATH, Newton   Announced offers: Grand View.   The Situation: Coley stood out to me when I scouted Newton's game at Clear Creek Amana last season. The junior was impacting the action in multiple ways as a versatile athlete with speed and strength. He compiled a season's worth of top moments in his <a href="https://www.hudl.com/video/3/19574315/69fc2080d0725c46b12bba5d" id="https://www.hudl.com/video/3/19574315/69fc2080d0725c46b12bba5d">2025 highlight video</a>.   The recruiting interest in Coley hasn't matched his talent. South Dakota State invited him to a junior day this year. Grand View provided him with his first offer, extending it on May 16.   As is usually the case, Coley (6-0, 200) would help himself getting in front of college coaches at camps the next month. They'll witness an athlete can fill multiple roles.   [player_tooltip player_id='1965050' first='Max' last='Patterson'], ATH, Prairie   Announced offers: None.   The Situation: Patterson gets lost in the shuffle on a Prairie roster deep with next-level talent. The program that lands him could reap the rewards of an athlete with a projectable 6-3, 185-pound frame and the possibility of fitting at a few different positions, however. They can see the upside when watching his <a href="https://www.hudl.com/video/3/19731164/6911433690223eab69d4ea0f" id="https://www.hudl.com/video/3/19731164/6911433690223eab69d4ea0f">junior highlight video</a>.   South Dakota and Drake stopped at Prairie to speak with Patterson this winter. He visited Drake on Feb. 1. He's spent most of his post-winter break time standing out in indoor and outdoor track, which has slowed his ability to visit more schools.   Like the other guys on this list, Patterson is an upside athlete that can benefit from camping with colleges during the next month or so. It's not hard to see a significant ceiling that can be reached through development.
