Versatility goes a long way in the game of football. Being able to load up a roster with dynamic athletes who can fill several different spots of need gives coaches big time advantages when it comes to matchups and depth. The WI HS landscape is loaded up with those versatile weapons who can provide the ability to play several positions at the next level. These special athletes deserve time in the spotlight, so today is there day. Coaches, these are some serious talents to know. We have athletes for every level of competition in this article.

Brett is simply one of the top overall talents in the Class of 2027. Especially when you look at the athletes who are still uncommitted. The Shiocton standout plays TE and DE/edge for his team. Standing at 6'5" 235 lbs, Brett has the elite frame to continue to play either side at the next level. It isn't just the size. It is the power he has loaded up into that frame. The way he can bull rush or swat down OT arms. The way he can punish defenders after the catch. His ability to stand up OTs on the edge. But then the big man also shows the explosive traits. That effective first step off the snap to rush the edge. The quickness in his release and out of breaks. You can line Brett up all around the offense or defensive trenches and he will impact plays. This is a D1 caliber athlete.

Another D1 caliber athlete who is dominating on both sides of the ball is Kenosha Bradford's WR/DB Lorenzz Pratt. The soon to be senior holds that top ATH spot for us because of how dangerous he has proven to be on both sides of the ball. At WR he wins with his superior athleticism. Speed and quickness make him tough to match up with and he surprises DBs with the power he has loaded into his frame. That power repeatedly flashes on defense where he devastates WRs with his tackles. Plus he has that quick twitch reactive athleticism to play lock down man to man coverage all over the field. Larenzz is one of the best skill players in Wisconsin.

What a weapon [player_tooltip player_id='1336952' first='Ryan' last='Rose'] has proven to be for West Bend West. The 2027 has built a strong 6'1" 195 lbs frame that can win out wide at WR and DB. On offense the rising 2027 has shown that he can stretch the field because of his vertical speed and also his ability to reel in the difficult catches along the sideline. That speed also has allowed the offense to utilize him on jet sweeps too. After Ryan gets the ball in his hands he has proven to be a nightmare to contain with a strong base of contact balance. That physicality shines on defense too where the DB has shown he can come downhill, fill running lanes, and stuff RBs right when he makes contact. I'm expecting Ryan to have a very impressive summer.

Next up we look at a productive two way lineman in the Class of 2027. Wyatt is a massive prospect at 6'3" 295 lbs. On defense you see what you would first suspect at his size. The ability to eat up blocks, and collapse the interior of the line with his strength. What sets Wyatt apart is that you will also see him flash some range and lateral burst to catch the ball carrier trying to slip through between the tackles. On the offensive side of the ball the big 2027 seems to flex those strengths even more. He can pull and kick out with flattening power. His lower body is so powerful that it seems like Wyatt never looses any momentum when he makes contact. The big man is a name to know in the Class of 2027 with two way talent.

Another extremely impressive WR/DB is [player_tooltip player_id='2103524' first='Drake' last='Petersen'] out of St. Croix Falls. The 6'3" 190 lbs athlete is a long, strong prospect who has the physicality to match up with WRs and DBs on the outside. His versatility on defense alone is impressive. He will be at LB, CB, or safety depending on the play. The range, physicality, and awareness he plays with allows him to be a three level defender. Then on offense the 2027 can use those long strides to get up the field and I was impressed at how well he could time and attack the ball in the air. Especially while in traffic. I think safety is his future, but WR is definitely an option too for the St. Croix Falls athlete.

A dynamic two way athlete that should have a big summer and senior season is the Badger CB/RB. Oliver has some strong tape available to watch. Tape that shows a CB who can play man or zone. His athleticism allows him the ability to turn and run with his back to the QB and still be able to stay in position to make plays on the ball. Oliver can also read the QB's eyes and use his closing speed to jump routes and bait QBs into bad throws. At RB you see that speed on full display as he is used to stretch the defense laterally and get the edge. A job he can do at a high rate of success. The 2027 also has clips showing his vision through traffic with the football. Don't sleep on Oliver.

Nobody personifies the ATH label like Gabe. The kid did literally a bit of everything in 2025, and more might be needed from him in 2026. This is possible because he is a very high IQ football player. He is someone who knows his job and seems to know where the football is going to be while playing defense. The speed on top of his awareness allows him to roam the field effortlessly and make the plays on the ball or tackles in the open field. His open field tackling is so reliable too. On offense we really see the natural athleticism and instincts with the football as he beats angles and finds ways to set up blocks. I believe Gabe can play DB or WR at the next level. I'm pumped to watch the tape and numbers he produces this fall.

Another versatile athlete from the trenches in DL/OL [player_tooltip player_id='2103558' first='Aaden' last='Summers']. The 2027 played for Edgerton last fall, but will be apart of Madison West this season. Aaden is an impressive athlete on the hoof. His 6'3" 250 lbs frame looks like it has just started to fill out on his tape. Yet we see his play be supported primarily by his raw power. Power to bully his way through an OL into the backfield for a tackle or collapse the pocket. Or the power to be able to drive a DL out of a gap while playing on the OL. The big fella has also proven he can be light on his feet, especially in pass protection where he has been able to easily stay in front of the DE rushing him. It will be interesting to see what he is recruited as this summer/fall.
