It's largely too early to tell which players in the class of 2029 will play Division I football -- but these five stand out as prospects that could certainly get there after what they showed during their respective freshman seasons.

One of few impactful freshman offensive linemen in the 2029 recruiting class at the 5A level, [player_tooltip player_id='1954623' first='Grady' last='Farley'] jumped onto our radar during summer workouts in 2025. A player that looked like a junior, at least, coming in as a freshman last season, Farley was an immediate starter for a program in Cedar Rapids Kennedy that has had its history of Division I linemen.

Farley started at guard, already standing at 6-foot-3 and 280 pounds, using his rare physical presence to get push up and under pads of opposing defensive linemen. Farley drives his feet in the run game, pulls well, gets to the second level and maintains good feet in pass protection.

A bendy and quick athlete with ball skills, [player_tooltip player_id='1909617' first='Grayson' last='Lloyd'] was as impactful as any freshmen receiver in the state this season. Leading all first-year pass-catchers in receiving yards and receiving touchdowns, Lloyd looked like a seasoned-veteran on the perimeter for Woodbury Central. At least, that's the way the connection between he and junior quarterback, [player_tooltip player_id='1621129' first='Jackson' last='Verschoor'] looked.

Lloyd showed an advanced skillset in route running with quick feet, the ability to get in and out of breaks quicker than older defensive backs covering him and ball-tracking skills that made him a deep threat despite his lack of size. Assuming Lloyd continues to grow, he'll be a two-way star for the Wildcats.

Yes, [player_tooltip player_id='1942262' first='Griffin' last='Mohr'] plays 8-Man football for Coon Rapids-Bayard, but when, like his counterparts here, the physical tools are there, they must be recognized, no matter the level of competition -- and Mohr has them.

Standing at 6-foot-2 and 235 pounds, Mohr was a terror off the edge for the Crusaders this fall, leading freshmen in all classes in sacks. There were plays where Mohr looked like a man amongst boys -- not a freshman at the 8M level. Using his size and strength, Mohr got off the ball well, often getting left tackles back on their heels and in panic mode, if not putting them in the dirt. With quick feet and long arms, to boot, Mohr made it awfully difficult for ball-carriers to get away when he got into the backfield.

Yet another offensive linemen in this class of 2029, is already quite physically developed. Tall and long, Walsworth still has plenty of room to fill out on his lanky frame, and he possesses a toolkit that offensive line coaches love to have at either tackle position. Inexperienced, not gettiing the reps like a Farley did this summer, Walsworth faced bigger challenges in Cedar Falls, but this coming year may be where he carves out a spot for himself on the Tiger offensive line.

A prospect that works with JC Moreau at Strength U, Walsworth reminds the well-known OL trainer of a younger Carson Nielson -- not a bad comparison to have, considering Nielson is alreay on campus at Iowa after enrolling early. Walsworth's physical tools, the fact that he's working with Moreau and attending a school with excellent coaching has him set up well for future college football endeavors.

Finding his way onto the field periodically in his first year of high school ball -- even if it was more often than not in garbage time of blowout wins -- for the state champions this fall, the 6-foot-1, 175-pound specimen, [player_tooltip player_id='2118876' first='Beau' last='Williams'] will be an interesting name to follow going forward.

Williams was the only freshman in Class 5A to grab more than one receiving touchdown and finish the year with over 100 yards receiving. Of course, nothing is a lock, but doing so at a program that has had as much success as the Maroons have had under Tom Wilson, plus his already large frame and flashes of potential, Williams could be next up for Dowling.
